20i recirc pump help

Post by PF3352 »

Ok here is what I know. My boat sat for about 7 months and when finally got it into water I noticed one of the livewell pumps was not working. Good smack and it works. NOW I have it in the garage and when I tested the recirc pumps I hear nutin. My question is when you turn them on in your garage can you here the pump running and do you have to have anything else on at the same time. I cant believe they both went out sitting (possible). I have a an override box and all the lights come on but still nothing. Any ideas plz..Any Skeeter 20i guys mine going to there boats and hitting their recirc buttons and telling me what they hear or dont hear. Maybe a stupid question (sorry) but does there need to be water for them to kick on?

You definitely should hear something humming. Question, do both lights (on and auto) flash when you turn it on? if it does, then push the button and hold it until it goes off. This means you have a short, or the pump quit or it stuck. The tops of these pumps are very easy to take off. The tops are the motor itself, there is a button to release it and you turn it clockwise (I think). It should only turn a 1/4 or 1/2 and then you can take it off. Spin the prop with your hand to free any gunk and then try it again. You can probably spray some WD-40 on it if looks too bad. One of my motors burned up and I just replaced the top, it was a piece of cake. The hardest part was removing the oil tank and battery charger, but it was more a pain then it was hard to do. Good luck

Hey Brent I think those are my livewell fills under the oil tank. Those work. It's the ones attached to the livewell themselves. The recirc pumps. Those arnt easy to get to. The lights stay fully lit when turned on but no sound. I filled well up and turned them on. Nutin. I'm guessing they both went bad at same time. Odd

Im guessing it is time to start pulling things apart. I have know idea (looked everywhere) for another fuse box. good thinkin tho.
