I have discovered that my 1984 Mercury runs like crap on E10 gas. I have heard in some parts of the country premium gas does not contain ethanol.
Are there any stations that carry real gas in Northern California?

I don't think so. I believe CA has mandated that all "gas" has 5-12% EtOH in it.
Don't qoute me on that, but I'm pretty sure you can't find ethanol free gas.

No ethenol free gas in cali except race gas,(107-110 octane pure gas) there's a few spots to get it around the delta but I'm not sure about running it in a 2 stroke.

Re: Ethanol-Free Premium
you can get "race gas" in 92 also but it's big $$ like the 103+ stuff it coms in 5 or 55 gal. cans / drums. The 5 gal cans cost more per gal then the 55's do but you need a hazmat lic. to move 55's an your are not permited to store bulk gas @ a house and or a bis with out the proper permits

All the fuel (Pump fuel) has Ethanol.. Add and use the Marine Sta-bil to your fuel. It will help you run the junk fuel the state has and also saves your engines rubber parts. BIll K

Will Sta-bil work with gas that has been sitting for a month or so or do you have to add it to fresh gas?Bill K wrote:All the fuel (Pump fuel) has Ethanol.. Add and use the Marine Sta-bil to your fuel. It will help you run the junk fuel the state has and also saves your engines rubber parts. BIll K
Re: Ethanol-Free Premium
It can help, and you can add a bottle or two(depends on your amount of fuel) of Heat fuel additive, which allows water to burn out of fuel.
Your best bet, unless you can go out and really burn that old fuel down, is pump it out and start with fresh. Bill K
