Skeets Response to AOY....

All of my competitors came up to me at one point or another on Saturday after weigh-in and said sorry for the result. Even KVD said he felt for me. I wouldn't expect anything less than that from him; he's a friend, and he let me know he understood how I felt.
On the topic of Kevin, he went out there and did his job and walked away with the trophy. He fished great over those four competition days. Even though it cost me winning the trophy, I still congratulated him, and he would have done the same for me. The rest of those guys did the same thing, fished hard and did their job. That's what we do — compete to win.

no doubts its a painful loss but those guys are pretty close and it shows a LOT of class on Skeet's behalf. Wish he could have pulled it out as he DID have the best overall season of all.

Well, fishing is not a team sport. You're comparing apples and oranges. Angler of the Year trophy is NOT a Championship trophy. Was KVD really the BEST angler for the WHOLE year? Nope!

I understand the system was set before the season started and in most seasons it wouldn't make a difference. If the top 12 are really close the post season idea would work. Unfortunately, the system didn't work this year and BASS knows it. All this talk is reminding me of how screwed up the BCS system is. (Can't wait for some college football to start!)

Greeny Skeet knew that he would have to do well in post season to win AOY. he did well the whole year to be in position to make the post season and to have a better oppportunity to win. He choked knowing what the point system was for the post season. KVD is the man thats why he is #1.

It's called Angler Of The Year, not angler of the post season. It should be based on the whole year not one week out of the year.

i agree that skeet got screwed but its the way it is and it is for angler of the year so again sorry to say its all about the playoffs just need to make it their the season really doesnt mean anything sad.If the playoffs are on the same water better get used to vandamm winning every year.Those 2 places play into his style of fishing
