Slot Restriction Lifted from Roosvelt Lake

Post by cowboy2 »

The bass slot restriction on Roosevelt Lake has been rescinded by the AZGFD Commissioners. Kirk Young, Branch Fishery Manager did an excellent presentation on the creel data collected over the past year and completed his presentation by saying this was a "win/win" for everyone involved. The public input indicated that 85% of the respondents either "strongly favored" or "favored" lifting of the slot. The vote by the Commissioners was unanimous. The new rule will take effect 10 days from today (8/17). This means there will be no slot restriction for the upcoming FLW Series tournament Sept. 22-25th. The FLW does impose a minimum length rule. Part of this decision is an agreement to do follow up creel studies in 2012 and 2013 to measure the impact (if any) on the fishery.

This will ruin my career. For years I've been one of the best in the West at catching bass under 13 inches. No comeback now, I am toast.
