Now that's the best damn anology and response I've seen off the entire Internet in regards to this format!

What our friend from Ohio doesn't seem to git, is in no way is it fair to asses a 90% year end point reduction, then quadruple the points over two events and crown the best angler. If it was made to be fair, there'd be a level playing field and the points system would remain the same. Had that been the case, Skeet still blows the field away, even while choking and finishing 6th & 10th in the last two events. Hell he'da won it if they only tripled or doubled the points! But no, it was quadrupled, seriously, where's the fairness ya speak of in that?

It's not about individuals Dan, it's the new system that absolutely sucks and has made a mockery of the AOY winner the past two seasons since it's inception.

WackySenko... If that's the way their contract are worded... Don't sign it if you don't like the terms. Skeet signed his entry form for each tourney, must have thought it was OK or he would have taken his talents elsewhere, right?

bassaddicted... I'm not against Skeet... It doesn't matter (in the end) who lead in the points in tourney 1-8. It MATTERED when they give away the money and trophy. Does the Super Bowl winner always have the best record? Skeet cramped up when the pressure was on and they fished tougher fisheries... Sorry, KVD earned AOY...

Cooch... it is fair, was it not done this way last year? The rules were published and read before the season started. Just because you don't like it doesn't make it unfair...

Dbassking... Everyone knows how much bass fishing means out West. Reality shows s*ck... Dan

Fair unfair whatever. The fact is the title is ANGLER of the YEAR. Not just I did a half decent job got into the post season and pulled a couple better tourneys out at the last second. That says NOTHING about anything anyone did during the season. It reminds me of those "Even kids know its wrong to ..." commercials.

Fact is the current system does not reflect who had the best year. SKEET had a much better year than KVD.

Here are the stats.

2010 DUEL IN THE DELTACALIFORNIA DELTA - STOCKTON, CA
Mar 11 - Mar 14 2010
NAME - Finished
KVD - 29th
Skeet - 2nd
--------------------------------------------------------------------
2010 GOLDEN STATE SHOOTOUTCLEAR LAKE - LAKEPORT, CA

KVD - 59th
Skeet - 5th
---------------------------------------------------------------------
2010 BLUE RIDGE BRAWL PROSMITH MOUNTAIN LAKE - MONETA, VA
Apr 15 - Apr 18 2010
KVD - 22nd
Skeet- 1st
----------------------------------------------------------------------
2010 ALABAMA CHARGEPICKWICK LAKE - FLORENCE, AL
Apr 29 - May 02 2010
KVD - 57th
Skeet - 5th
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
2010 SYNERGY SOUTHERN CHALLENGE PROLAKE GUNTERSVILLE - GUNTERSVILLE, AL
May 06 - May 09 2010
KVD - 9th
Skeet - 1st
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
2010 PRIDE OF GEORGIACLARKS HILL LAKE - EVANS, GA
May 20 - May 23 2010

2010 TENNESSEE TRIUMPHKENTUCKY LAKE - PARIS, TN
Jun 09 - Jun 12 2010
KVD - 1st
Skeet - 48th
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
2010 ELITE SERIES - MUSKOGEE, OKARKANSAS RIVER - MUSKOGEE, OK
Jun 17 - Jun 20 2010
KVD - 6th
Skeet - 2nd
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
2010 RAMADA TROPHY CHASE PROLAKE JORDAN - WETUMPKA, AL
Jul 24 - Jul 25 2010
KVD - 3rd
Skeet - 10th
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
2010 EVAN WILLIAMS BOURBON TROPHY TRIUMPH PROALABAMA RIVER - MONTGOMERY, AL
Jul 30 - Jul 31 2010
KVD - 1st
Skeet - 6th

Now lets look at these stats a little.

Skeet's wins this year - 2
KVD's wins this year - 2

Skeet's top 5 - 6
KVD's top 5 - 3

Skeet's top 10 - 8
KVD's top 10 - 5

Skeets finishes below 10th - 2
KVDs finishes below 10th - 5

Lets just say that's too much red next to KVDs name for him to really be the Angler of the Year.

Dan200xl, I did not mention that Skeet got screwed. Yes he signed the entry form knowing the rules and scoring system. There was no mention of that in my post. I would just like to see how many management personnel would think it was fair if same system was used for them. I am a big fan of both Skeet and KVD because they are great anglers. I always feel that Skeet is AOY for 2010 and that KVD won the post season. My personal feeling is whomever has the best season is AOY. BASS scored it different and they control things in the end. KVD is in the books and bank with AOY for 2010, congratulations to him.

If the point system was in place at the begining of the year, how ever screwed up it may be,and KVD won how did BASS rob this guy.

KVD is the best ever and Rick Clunn knows that now. But even a monkey with his head up his A$$ can see Skeet had a much better year than Kevin. The new owners of BASS have a project as soon as they take the helm ie FIX THE AOY! My hat is off to Skeet for a fantastic year. Hey did anyone else notice Skeet has a Stratos logo? Still running last years Champion.

I believe Skeet got robbed by the post season points format , however I think KVD is a better angler and has proven it his track record trumps Skeets..that said I think Skeet earned Angler of the Year

Maybe Skeet should just switch to the FLW Tour where AOY is determined the way you all think it should be...

Skeet had an awesome year...no question about it. For 2010, when you think if the AOY race, the final 2 events for the top 12 were part of it. Skeet along with every other Elite guy knew about it...yes, it sucks and I really don't agree with it...but the simple fact is that it was the 2010 AOY format. Skeet kicked everyones but overall for the season, but with the unique (horrible) points format for the 2010 AOY format, he simply did not get the job done "Based on the format". Yes, the format sucks and he really shined...but the only thing that can be done is for all the Elite guys to complain to BASS about the format (if that will even work) and who knows, there may be a bunch of Elite guys that actually like the format...because they go into the season knowing that if they stay close enough to make the top 12...then they too can walk away with the AOY trophy and not have to shine all year long. This is not the playoff's of bass fishing...that is what the Classic is...plain and simple. I think that BASS should just add another 2 regular style events to the season...but they won't, because that will take away the extra drama that this format creates.

Just got done watching the footage of the BASS post seson on DVR.

WHAT AN F-ING JOKE!!!

I can not belive anybody in there right mind has the nerve to defend the BASS's new system of figuring out the angler of the year.

Do the season MVP's in the American and National League get awared to players based on their World Seires and post season performance?

Does the NFL's season MVP's get awarded based on there Super Bowl and post season performance?

Do the season MVP's in basketball get the award based on 4 rounds of the platyoff's?

The answer to all is NO!!! It make no freaking sense?

How can an award for an entire year/season, be detirmed by 21 baseball games, 3 football games, 4 playoff seires, or in this case 4 days of fishing ???

WEAK!!! to say the least!

The anglers having knowledge of the system does not make the system valid or right? Come on now we must be smarter than that??? Right???

Skeet takes home $332.000 in 2010 for kicking bass. He's won the grand prise already reguardless who has the AOY dust collector sitting on a shelf. We all know who was the top angler in 2010. Skeet Reese, BASS may as well just give the AOY trophy to who ever wins the Classic and drop the point system off the boat the way they're doing things now. Great topic Cooch

Whooo hoo, the second most BRILLIANT statement in this thread! LMAO!

What's really funny in this thread, the guys who are posting that appear to be defending it, really aren't, cause they know themselves, it's a complete crock and assinine process. What they are doing though, is skirting the base of my original post, and falling back behind the rhetoric of KVD vs Skeet, West vs Everyone else, "they all knew the rules", yada, yada, yada......

PS to Dan200xl......I got the biggest kick outa this statement from you brotha...
Dan000xl wrote:Skeet cramped up when the pressure was on and they fished tougher fisheries... Sorry, KVD earned AOY...
How far under the bus did ya just shove KVD, when he had 29th, 59th, 22nd, 57th & 38th, when there was NO Pressure, fishing 5 EASY fisheries? Actually, I'm sorry, KVD won the AOY title, he did not truely earn it.

I was contemplating sending ya a custom California BASS Shovel so ya could dig yerself outa the hole yer getting burried in. But the more I read yer posts, I think I'm gonna send it to ya ASAP, cause it appears ya wanna just keep digging it deeper! HAR! HAR! HAR!

Excellent point Cooch... So, is Skeet switching to FLW next year to show his dissatisfaction? Maybe try for AOY in a 200 boat field instead of a 96 boat field? Skeet is marketable anywhere.

There may be a day when HE benefits from the format. Of course, I'm sure that won't be near as big a topic.

I'm just sayin'...
