Nice bass in Florida
Nice bass in Florida
Im here in High Springs Florida with my daughter for the 12u World Series of softball. I coach my daughters team from Lodi and we made it all the way here. We didnt make the championship game but they finished 6th in the country. Pretty good. Anyway, we went to a natural spring here and swam and there were some 5 to 6 lb bass swimming around pretty close to us. To bad the sign said no fishing or I would of went up to the Winn Dixie and gotten me a pole.
Re: Nice bass in Florida
The bass in springs are some of the most difficult to catch. I guess it is that crystal clear water. We used to snorkel the spring fed rivers (Santa Fe, Itschnetuckee, and Swanee) for crawdads and we would see some real nice bass. When we would try to fish for them we could never catch them.
I would rather jog home from my own Vasectomy than spend Saturday at the mall.
Re: Nice bass in Florida
You got that right about hard to catch, those spring feed bass are spooky. I'm a NorCal transplant living in Ocala just south of where your softball TX was going on. Congrats on making it all the way to the Series
Salt Springs and the Rainbow River near where I live are spring feed, you can catch a few if the conditions are right. Low light, wind helps, fluro line and 6 lb max line. It's really cool being able to see fish in their natural settings, crystal clear water and 72 degree water temp year round. A must see when your in FL.

Crawdaddy, We were at Blue Spring in High Springs. The World Series was in Alachua.
Re: Nice bass in Florida
How did the series go? High Springs was where we exited the I-75 to get to our river cabin. It was on the Santa Fe river near Fort White. You probably drove over the river at some point. It is one of the most visually beautiful rivers I have ever been on in my life, but my god there are a lot snakes in the trees.
