Nolan caught his personal best in the Poe Mans Tourny on 8/6. I was tying up Nick's rod and I hear Nolan scream I got one get the net, I look up and his rod is doubled over. Of course I look down as I'm thinking to myself time to retie Nolan now also, then I see is rod start to surge. The look in his eyes was priceless. I jump up and tell him to just stay calm and try to make his way to the front of the boat. The next thing I know he runs up to the front of the boat and he looks like he's fighting a Marlin. I'm cracking up as I hear him say whow, whow, whow at every run. By this time I'm thinking the 8 pound test has to break but he fights the fish perfectly and we get it in the boat. He jumps up and down and I have one of those moments I won't forget.
Yes fishing with kids is very trying on your patience and yes I spent probably $50 in hooks and yes they caught the line around their reels and each other but it was worth it.
If anyone needs to know why fishing is great look at the pic in the photo section and see Nolans hog. This is why I fish and why even the turkey shoot like tourny's are great. I wish everyone could get the chance to see that look and feel that rush and maybe we could realize why we fish, not for the money, but for the rush.
