I am looking for a GPS with a 5 inch screen with detail on the Delta and lakes such as Lake Mcclure, Don Pedro, Tulloch, etc. I have the Garmin192c and the lake detail is terrible. It is just a lake with no detail at all just a blank white lake even with the US Lake chip there is no detail. Suggestions would help.
Thanks

Re: GPS help
I have the Lowrance I-Finder, and it's the same way. I don't know of any hand helds that have much lake detail.
Your best bet is probably to save some money and get a Lowrance fish finder/gps combo.

Re: GPS help
As far as I know, only a few of the more popular lakes in CA like Shasta have detailed GPS maps. For Garmin, the CA Delta Detailed GPS map is part of the their Blue Chart series and is not part of the US Recreation Lakes series.

Go to the ISE show in San Mateo and go to the Lawrance booth and talk to Tom and Bob. They will show you some good stuff. Then go over to the Hook Line & Sinker booth and buy one. Done!
Re: GPS help ( I might have what you need)!!!
I just posted in the classified and on E-BAY a Lowrance LMS 480m which is a combo fishfinder/gps unit. New in box. Was going to put it in my boat until my trolling motor quit. Need a new trolling motor. Would like a Minn-Kota Maxxum with the universal sonar. I'm asking $550 for the unit as they retail for $700 new. Check out Lowrance's website for info on the unit. Drop me a line if your intrested!!!

Re: GPS help
I have a Garmin GPS/FFishfinder and I found that the lake detail can be loaded from the US recreational lakes CD. All of the lakes you mention are available and the detail is actually pretty good with depth changes at 10ft intervals, humps, drop-offs, weedbeds, docks, marina and so forth all show up. The detail for Clear Lake is great it shows places to eat and get gas, etc. See if you can get the Recreational Lakes CD and load that into your unit.
