Post by DanIsaac »

Hopefully so Mike. When your business is impacted by public slander it makes it hard to keep truckin'. Hopefully Hippie Chang will start thinking before he posts retarded comments.

Not sure what caused this but I sure hope you reconsider. This
satisfied customer will miss the great service you provided. I
hope this decision was the result of what is best for you and
your company rather then some internet BS.

Go grab a cold beer from isle 5.
Call Tony and have him nuke this thread.
PM a polite FU to the offending posters
and get back to work on our reels.

DanIsaac,

Teach me how to service reels and I will do the business and cut you in for 10% of each reel I do for the next two years (I will go one better for the next three years). I will just pass the 10% on to the customers and if they don’t like it they can go find someone else.

Dan,

Definitely reconsider. You have a lot of supporters who hate to see you quit your business. You're doing a great service for fisherman on this site. I always recommend you to my friends when they need service on their Shimano reels.

Bummer,

Dan I didn't follow what caused this. Having taken advantage of your service recently I was very satisfied with the results and let everyone on Western Bass know it.

Dan,
All I can say is that after receiving my reels back from you last year, I am convinced that you are a class act. I called you a few weeks ago and was asking about a new reel I wanted to buy and you spend a good fifteen minutes on the phone giving me the pros and cons. I have continued to put your name out there along with the great service you provide. It is unfortunate that it came to this, but I do hope you reconsider and give the public another chance to experience your expertise and most importantly, your honesty!

Art...I agree 100% with your second paragraph.

As for Dan closing...selfishly, it is not a good situation. After sending him six reels last year, I knew I would never look to send a Shimano reel anywhere else.

I don't know Dan well...just know how he treated me and my equipment. Sure hope he reconsiders.

I would say that Dan has made this decision based on more than just Jason's comments as it says he is leaving the sport in his WB ad.

Dan always seemed like a good guy to me not that I new him personally or ever sent him any reels, although I thought about it often.

Best of luck and best wishes Dan. We'll alway be here or some where on a lake if you decide to come back.

I have been watching this post all day and I have to say it really saddens me that our sport could be losing a guy the caliber of Dan. He has always been a supporter, fan and genuine guy, quick with a smile and a handshake and helped out more people than you could count.

Now I am sure Hippie (Jason Chang) is going to say I was just joking etc etc.... Funny how a guy like Jason when you do a search on his name you find less than a handful of tournaments fished as a co-angler, one good finish on the Delta on the co-angler side, a regional qualifier with CBC but they only had 10 guys fish the event he fished, and a few teams here and there...I point that out only that his strong opinions and go for the throat postings here on WB have almost made him some kind of feared legend....at least in his own mind!!! Just earlier this month he was questioning if I even fished......really Jason you need to back off some dude.

You take a cheap shot at a guy I am sure you have never met, run down circuits, companies, anglers, td's etc..... Put a few more miles under your ***, a few more days on the pointy end of the boat, wear out the hinge on your livewell lid and let your fishing do the talking instead of your internet image and maybe you will have some respect.

I don't really know you Jason but I have to tell you that from what I see you post I am not a fan.....that's ok you don't have to be a kb fan either I will survive. Dan is a friend of mine, and many others and an honorable guy that has never done anything to hurt anyone in this sport.......maybe someday you will have the same thing said about you Jason.....but I doubt it!!!

I am sure your account has been put on time out.....C'mon Tony and crew make an example out of this guy and make him go away! We don't need his crap!!!

and Jason if I was you I would save your apology to Dan.....he is a big enough guy to probably accept it but I hope he doesn't......you haven't earned that!!

Dan I hope it all blows over, you come back stronger than ever and you see just how many friends and customers you have out here.....you can always count me as one buddy!

Dan, I don't know what was said and don't much care. I am hopeful that whatever you have decided is what is BEST for you. I am dissappointed to hear you will no longer be servicing and repairing Shimano reels. I have had work done over the past 30 years by many and have NEVER found someone I TRUSTED like you. I was ALWAYS amazed at your turn around, quality and fair price. You have stood behind your work and went that extra. Thanks!!! It has been my experience that many individuals knock or criticise others hard work or talents to protect their own shortcomings. I have ALWAYS been a happy costumer and hope you reconsider closing. Good luck Dan!!!!

Well, here's the real deal Kent and everyone else who have never met Jason. Jason is a funny guy. Does he make some posts that are crazy? Absolutely. Does he piss people off? Absolutely. Does he tell it the way it is? Absolutely. Is he sometime off-base? Absolutely. Is he sometimes right on? Totally.

He obviously doesn't take any of this serious. In this case in particular, he just made a comment about the guy making too much money if he had a bunch of those new Loomis rods. That's it. Not a big deal. If you told me you'd rather buy one of them new rods for the price of two Dobyns Rods, I'd tell you the same probably. lol

Everyone needs to relax and chill. If any of you ever got the opportunity to talk to Jason face to face, you'd quickly realize that he's a good guy and actually pretty damn funny. Sounds like this gentleman was getting out of the biz anyways and perhaps Jason's comment set him off.

Like most of you who don't know Jason, I don't know the gentleman who's closing shop. As everyone has mentioned, he sounds like a great guy and apparently offered a great service. However, I find it questionable that a business owner would close shop because someone on a public forum hurt his feelings.

Best of luck to Dan though. I know Jason didn't intend to piss him off.

Brian,
I don't know either person involved, but I will say this. If Hippie is offending as many people as it sounds like he is, then maybe he isn't that funny. I have seen other rants of people that he is offended. Maybe he should have learned a lesson and toned it down a bit. The impression I get is that he enjoys making people mad. Again I don't know him but that is how a lot of people precieve him. Kb well said as usual.

Gentlemen, thank you for all of the kind words and support. Yes, what transpired this morning on this site is regretable. Unfortunately, it's becoming more and more common place.

I do not know the individual aka hippe, and don't care to know him. All of this came completely out of the blue, but I knew it would only be a matter of time before someone used the "joke" approach as an explanation.

Mr. Lineman I commend you for sticking up for what apparently is a friend of yours, but who in the hell are you to question my motives for leaving this site, and or business, or sport for that matter? Exactly. Nobody to me, and no my feelings are not hurt, I'm pissed. BIG DIFFERENCE!

For the record sir, I had no intention of doing so until I was slandered in the manner in which I was. I invite WBass to repost the original thread so those who didn't see it may. Let everyone see for themselves as to what was said. You too Mr. Lineham will see I made no mention of owning even one NRX Loomis rod. So your friend or someone else obviously mislead you.

The original question was something to the effect, "are the new NRX rods that impressive?" Something to that effect, and I merely answered "very much so, and I think you will be impressed as well" or something close to that.

Mr. Chang responded with what he did, and there was no joking about it, it was slander, pure slander, and I am sick of what this sport, and these westcoast sites have turned into.

Anyways, thank you to each who took the time to post, as well as the pm's. A friend from work called me this evening and told me I should check out the thread. I have and I am truly humbled. Truly.

Thank you all again.

Dan

p.s. hippie, you should take this seriously. I AM!

This Sucks, Dan did 8 of my reels two years ago and I even purchased two sweet curado 100d from him, I was getting ready to send some in, I haven't been on WB in a while.
I hknow how he feels though, I just had the displeasure on another site with a know it all arm chair fisherman with such hate these guys can bring out, and then it run along to the other lurking haters who have nothing better to do, it's what ruins these websites for all... sorry to see you go Dan

Punker, I wish I would have been made aware of the post sooner as well, unfortunately my 6-5 job that pays the bills is my #1 concern in the day time. I didnt know there was an issue until I read Dan's post and by then damage done.

It may be easy to say the mods need to look at every remark in every thread, in all of the seperate forums of WB but it just isnt realistic. The truth is I hardly ever visit the Shimano Rod and Reels area unless I have a question or am looking for information on product lines, this forum has been the most tame forums on Westernbass.

This is not meant as a hi-jack but we are a community, as dysfunctional as can be and just as in tournaments we need to self police, self censor and notify one of the mods or call Tony when there is something going down sideways on these boards so we can address it quickly.

Dan, my regret for you is that this post wasn't cought sooner or brought to my attention to take action on. The bass fishing community will suffer a loss of your service and representation of our sport. I also hope that cooler heads will prevail and that you reconsider closing down for good.

I have never sent any reels to you Dan, but several kick boater friends of mine have had you hot rod there reels. I have only heard great things about what you can do to a tired reel. I have been acumulating a lot of reels that are tired and ready for a tune up. I hope I didn't wait to long.

Hey Hippie, tell Gman a "Joke" about his Mama. I want to see him take it as a "Joke". :?

The religous deal and this just piss me off though. Dan did not deserve that accusation. This website should have moderated that comment a lot quiker in my opinion. I have seen lesser comments deleted much faster previously. You shouldnt blindly post BS aimed at people you dont know. I t was beyond rough around the edges.

Ash, it was on the main board please bring it back for all to see.
As for Brian, u didn't piss me off. That was already done. AS FAR AS COOLER HEADS. FAT CHANCE. This garbage needs to end, and end now. There should not be second, third or fourth chances. The best predictor of future behavior is past behavior. you lost a paying dedicated advertising/member over this IDIOT, and I'd be willing to bet I'm not the last.

Dan I feel sorry for you. But believe me I understand your frustration and feelings of injustice cuz' this 'hippie' prick slandered your personal empire and showed you a total lack of respect both personally, and businesswise.

This site owes it to you to make this individual dissapear for good.

As a member of this site, you should be defended from slanderous accusations and those slanderers should be 'booted'... no 'time out's'... (what are we three yrs old?)... hehe, 'timeout, you're being naughty. NO...!!! Were all adults here. No 'time out'... just 'LATER PRICK...!!!' you pissed off one of our biggest suppliers of quality workmanship and slandered him.

Dan, don't quit... 'Hippie', bye, bye, and go FYS..... Mr. Linehan , quit sticking up for someone who is a bonafied prick. It only makes you look bad. If my 'friends' were acting like this online, I'd reconsider who I'm hangin' out with. Think about it... side with a prick, or save face and admit that 'a buddy of your's', made a poor decision he shouldn't have. It will say alot about who you really are in the long run. Unless you feel the same way he does.

Now's the time to come clean and help someone maybe re-consider a life changing decision.

Sorry to hear you are closing, I would like to read the post that was deleted. I never saw it, but being from So Cal and knowing Hippie's past post's it was probably insulting as most of them are. I sent you 9 reels last year at 1 time, got them back in a week, I was very happy with your work. You will be missed in this industry.

Dan - As Ash stated, we do not see every post in every thread. When the first mod did see it, he removed it. If someone would have notified me of it, I would have removed it as well. I apologize for not catching it faster.

Wow, this has grown to giant proportions since yesterday. My question is why did hippie lash out at Dan? Lets at least be honest.

After sacrificing my life for a business with a solid reputation I am just blown away that any man would let some internet bickering close him down. One little thread caused you to shut your business down? If you decide to re-open tomorrow when the dust settles then shame on you. If you close down for good then that is your choice and good luck in the future. This makes no sense to me.
