This new Lead ban has been brought to our attention, and after reviewing the matter, it is at the utmost importance that every angler fill out the online survey request. As it stands now, the public opinions filed at this point are 70% in favor of passing this EPA ghost hunt. The same people that have stopped the trout from being planted at our trophy lakes. This could devastate the lure industry, by eliminating the lead products as well as copper products that are currently used in many different lure manufactures baits. It is time to stand up and fight for what we love, and voice our opinion, and be heard. I know there have been other threads regarding this matter, and as explained in those threads, it only takes a few minutes to fill out the questionnaire. The link is below. Take the time, or they will take our time away from us. There is only ONE day left to act, or we may all be very sorry.

Thank you for taking the time to write me with your views on pending petitions to the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) in regards to lead use. It is good to hear from you and I am pleased to respond.



The EPA has authority to ban toxic substances under the Toxic Substance Control Act of 1976. They were recently petitioned by the Center for Biological Diversity to ban traditional hunting ammunition, which contains lead as a toxic substance. EPA determined it lacks jurisdiction to ban the lead content in hunting ammunition, but is now considering lead in fishing sinkers.



There has been no legislation introduced to Congress that would bar the EPA from continuing down this path. However, I assure you that I share your concerns about the expansion of EPA under the current Administration. Along with my colleagues on the House Appropriations Committee, I have made many attempts with my colleagues to curb EPA from making over burdensome rules. Unfortunately, we have had little success and votes have been mostly along party lines. I can assure you that I will continue to monitor EPA with your thoughts in mind.

You small time lure manufactureS are going to have more time to fish now GET THE LEAD OUT

I can tell you from experiance about lead. In the plumbing Industry California passed a Law AB1953 and Vermont also passed a similar Bill that all Plumbing product's that convey Potable water must have 0.25% Lead. We had to change our stock prior to 2010 and we scraped so much product that would not comply and why would the Manufacturer take it back.

This Law is so flawed. A product such as a supply line,you know the one's you see comeing from your Angle Stop to the Faucet,is 20" or longer they are exempt from this Law yet a 12" Reduced Pressure Backflow has to comply. That's your Water Main Valve that's prevent's Backflow so you dont take a bath in waste water but yet it supply's your whole neighborhood with your drinking water!!

We can sell non compliant product as long as we state it's for something like Hydronic Heating that's on a closed loop System?

I only post this because you would think why would all these Manufactures care what California and Vermont want. Well I will tell you here and now even the Foreign Countries we Import from are Complying with these two new Law's becouse it will be World wide in every product.
