Pat Donoho

Post by langa69 »

I talked to Pat last week and his thyroid cancer is back. He must undergo a more serious surgery. Pat is tough as nails and if anybody can beat it Pat can. But I believe in prayer; if we all pray hard it will help him survive this horrible disease. I know how he was loved all over Bass Fishing country; he is a real gentleman and a great stick. Thanks for your prayers.

I saw Pat today in person and he is in great spirits. His laugh and smile is still there. The smile of an ole fox! He is itching to get out on his stomping ground bad. Pat will pull through. My prayers are with him and his family. Good luck next week Pat, and know that we are all thinking about you.

You are in my prayers Pat! I'm a firm believer in what goes around, comes around and Pat helped me out tremendously with two Bassmaster events my first and only two times to Lake Mead! Pat indeed is one of the nicest gentleman I've ever had the pleasure of meeting, be by his side Lord and keep him strong!

Pat got me my Mercury Cup win at the WON Bass Classic back in 2000 at lake Cachuma. He was using at that time the new Sinko bait. I almost won the boat by 2lbs (Brent Ehler won). I remember Pat saying, Gary we only need one more 2lb fish for you to win the boat. He was right. He was a great guy to fish with. I will pray for you Pat.

I don't believe it's thyroid cancer like last time. Pat Donoho is a dear friend of mine. He works harder at fishing than anyone I know. His partner in crime, Mr Bobby Ellis has called me countless times from the launching tie up dock with 30 minutes or MORE till daylight. Most of these are fun days or practice days, BUT Pat Donoho will not be late :D :D

Pat is the strongest willed most determined guy I have ever been around. Pat Donoho is TOUGH in everything he does!! I think the BIG C picked on the wrong guy this time!!

I promised that I would update everyone on Pat's condition. I am sorry to have to post that it is worse than expected. The Cancer has spread into his lungs. I talked to him friday at the pro am weigh in then I had breakfast with him today. At this point all he knows is that he is going to have to have Chemo and Radiation. He seems real up beat. He also asked me to thank everyone for their prayers, and he would post something as soon as he can.
I know everyone has Pat in their prayers I ask everyone to continue. Vern

MESSAGE from Pat Donoho

Post by Gary Dobyns »

I talked with Pat this morning. He asked me to post for him.

He says "thanks to everyone and it's very humbling that so many guys are pulling for him". "This is just like a bass tournament. I didn't do good on the first day but I'll be there fighting to win tomorrow".

Those of you that know Pat, know he has no give up in him. He's the first boat in the water in the morning and if he has a 3:00 weigh-in, you see him at the check-in boat at 2:59 and 30 seconds. HE NEVER GIVES UP!!

He wanted to go fishing today but has to stay by the phone in case they call to get him into the specialist. No cell service on Mead and he doesn't know how fast they can get him in.

Pat, i am just returning from an Alaska trip and have heard you are battling an illness. I will keep you in my prayers, Pat. I never had the opportunity to fish with you in any of the many Pro/Am's I fished over the past 20 years. I always appreciated the way you took time to say hello and enjoyed my conversations with you. You are one of the GREAT competitors and individuals in this sport. You ALWAYS fished hard and conducted your in a TOTALLY professional manner. You set a standard we all should strive for. I wish you all the best and hope to see you sometime soon. God Bless Pat!! Thanks for some great memories over the years. All the Best and fight like you fish.
