USAC REGION #2 TOC Results - Day One

Post by Bill Hutcheson »

The fishing at Mead continues to be tough for most although more limits seemed to be making thier way to the scales this weekend - including some bigger fish.

In addition to the Legend LE195 - Mercury ProXS pacakge up for grabs for the first place team, the second place team will also be walking away with a Mercury ProXS Motor as well - Thats's two motors at this TOC and a boat thrown in to boot! Add to this over $10K in cash and Angler of the Year prizes, and you have a TOC that is hard to beat!

Best of all, we will be doing this again up at Clear Lake next month with the same first and second place prizes to give away to our team anglers.

Here are your day one results:

15+lb sack at Mead? Wholly crud! They were assessed a 2lb penalty for dead fish? Did they have a big fish. Damn that's a nice sack. Thanks for the quick posting.

Andrew -

My apologies as in my haste to get the results up as quickly as possible for all to see, I omitted the 6.02 pound big fish taken by the first place team. They did have a great bag of fish and it appears that judging by the bigger fish that did come across the scales today that the fishing is starting to pick up. Tomorrows numbers will tell if this is a fluke or a trend.

With respect to the 2 pound penalty, that was assessed to the team due to the fact that they did not check in and sign up for the event during the 3-5 o'clock window. Additionally, they did not call me in advance to let me know that they would be running late.

I would bet that this number will go up next year but I guess we'll see. BTW, I thought you could fish both TOC's so why does it matter? Not a bash just a question.

I'm lovin' it. 3 in the top ten are Lake Powell teams. I'm hoping they can keep it up tomorrow. Just think, without the rule about being at the meeting, it would be out of touch. A few years ago, Mike Wheeler and his partner would have won the Tri- States, but they were assessed the same penalty for not being at the meeting, so it went to the second best team.
It might be lonely at the Top, but it's a bitch, at the Bottom !
