Chrankbaits and the Delta

Post by bryanw80 »

Thinking of heading to the Delta on this week. I have always been mainly a plastic guy out there but need to try other things. I know a lot of guys like to through crankbaits but I am not really sure which to use or what areas of the Delta to through them in. Only thing I have really thrown out there was a red speed trap with no success. I have fished all over the Delta and now it pretty well but could use some advice on crankbait choice and location out there. I mainly fish the whites/disappointment slough area but would be willing to try anything. Thanks for the advice.

If you want to throw shallow cranks and lipless baits, get your self a 705CB throw some 40lb braid and hang on. You can rip it though the grass and not get caught up in the grass to bad. If you want a med- deep diving crankbait get an 805CB on 15 or 17lb flouro. Position the boat on the edge of the weed line and try to keep contact either with the bottom or just ticking the weed tops. You dont need any specific area the stuff you already fish and you know holds fish will do.

As far as what cranks, I like strike kings, lucky crafts, and normans.

I hope this helps!
