Never argue with an idiot; He'll beat you to death with stupidity.
I AM NOT SAYING THERE SHOULD BE CAPITAL PUNISHMENT FOR STUPIDITY,
BUT, WHY DON'T WE JUST TAKE THE SAFETY LABELS OFF OF EVERYTHING
AND LET THE PROBLEM SOLVE ITSELF?"

During the winter I always carry an extra set of clothes in the boat. If I myself or anybody else falls in you can change out of the wet clothes.

I learned that the hard way myself a couple months ago. I was making a wide left hand turn with a friend in the boat and there was a little chop on the water. As I was turning I was trimming down to maintain water pressure but I could have left it alone and been fine. Half way through the turn as the bow came down a bit the boat dug in, I assume because I was trimming down as there was only slight chop. I felt it dig and stop and in a split second had 3 thoughts 1. I hope I dont get hit by the prop. 2. I should have been wearing my kill switch. 3. I should have been wearing a life jacket. I was thrown to the right and outside of the turn and skipped 3 or 4 times before settling in the water. My buddy brought the boat back probably within 30 seconds. I had lost my shoes and was quite bummed as they were a $130.00 pair of resistance runners 3 days old. I climbed up my rear ladder that I installed just in case. I then noticed my shoes under the steering wheel, I had been thrown out of them. I am pretty sold on the old hotfoot sure glad I had it that day. It takes a lot of energy to get thrown out of your shoes and it was quite the wake up call. Be safe and have a great 2011.

I read about this poor dude on two different forums for Arkie hunting when this first happended right around Christmas.

He was not wearing his kill switch on his mud motor and apparently his boat that he was solo in high water - hit a log and flipped .... Then his boat ran back over him.

Last I looked on my work PC - there was nothing updated on his condition - But I imagine if he lived ... he will never be able to walk again with that spinal injury.

You know, we always called each other goodfellas. Like, you'd say to somebody: "You're gonna like this guy; he's all right. He's a goodfella. He's one of us." You understand? We were goodfellas, wiseguys.

Wow,that would suck I'm glad he is ok.I think a lot of us take advantage of not wear our life jacket.the boats I go on are older with out the kill switch so were out of luck on that. On a better note thanx for the experience.

a kill switch can be added to any boat no matter how old. If you dont want to do it on your own any boat mechanic can. probabaly 2 hours labor and 50 bucks in parts.

I know I wear mine all the time. If iam in the passanger seat I urge the boater to have the kill switch on.

It's a good idea to find the trim setting that works best for you in rough weather, and run at that setting all day in the winter when the weather is unsettled. Another 10 mph is not a good tradeoff for spearing a wave.
