New Structure at Perris?

So what are the details about new structure being planted at lake Perris. What did they plant and where did they plant it and when did they plant it? God knows the fish needed something.

Lets just say its gonna help and only a few people know where everything is. But word will get out soon enough and everyone will be on those spots too. I'm sworn to secrecy though..
Heck..I need an edge right now..my results havent been up to par for a month and a half.

The lake is not to big just go out and turn on your graph and start looking around. The dam is always a good starting spot.

...and it was a high number of trees at that. Not sure of the exact number but I heard it was a LARGE amount...

Along with some Christmas trees trhere were some citrus trees and a few odds and ends. I will not tell you 2 things where tha TAB can is or where the bodies are buried. I just hope the lake doesn't go down any lower than it was.

I guess inquiring minds want to know so here's the story so far:

Because this was an emergency drawdown, DFG learned about it just when it began in October. At meetings of a users group DFG said that the drawdown will have a heavy impact on this year's year class and we didn't want a repeat next year. Therefore we needed habitat immediately.

DFG went on it's own and got about 320 trees from a tree seller that Pat Marley put us on to, and Daimon at El Sobrante Landfill started collecting trees. Those were delivered, and so far the 320 trees from Marley's friend were bundled in threes and placed on the northwest corner of the island, on the north side of Slide, and at World Record Rock at Bernasconi.

There are about the same number of Christmas tree bundles and 200 citrus tree bundles that will be sunk starting soon, hopefully next week. Citrus lasts much longer. The bundles will be in 5-20 feet when the lake is at 1563 elevation, where it should be from now on. Shallower would have been better but we didn't want boats running into them.

BTW, a big thanks to Felix Negrete and Orco Block in Romoland who got 1,038 cinder blocks donated for us to use as anchors.

Hopefully the trees will do something to offset the lack of cover for fry and juveniles and we won't lose another year class.

We still don't know what the extent of the dam repair will be. We're looking at 5-8 years no matter what.

Coca Cola donated 20,000 Tab cans and we need help to sink those. Of course I'm kidding. It was very nice of John Barron to make a map of where all of you wanted the trees placed....HAR!

We'll keep you posted on any developments.

We really appreciate the gesture, but at this point we don't need help, but that could change at any time. If we do, Mike or I will ask here. Hope that's OK. We'll be again putting stuff in the water starting next Wednesday. Monday and Tuesday we'll be assembling the bundles. You're all more than welcome on site if you want to see what's being done.

that was too funny ! I too have donated many DD 22's to the structure at Perris. Too many. Now it looks like even more !

The best way to stop losing baits is to remove the hooks. They are way too over rated. I say that because while Guy and I were prefishing for the WON Championship at Havasu I hooked a 4 lb smallie so I decided to cut my hooks OFF so I wouldnt stick another fish on my topwater bait. Sure enough 15 minutes later I"M ON AGAIN!!! With no hooks that smallie held onto the bait all the way to the boat while fighting pretty good. Once I got it next to the boat I swung the fish aboard and it fell right into Guys lap. UNREAL!!! That fish didnt let go of the bait until it was face to face with Guys mug. Too Funny.
So you see...hooks ARE overrated!!
