BEWARE!!!

Post by rojo44 »

Wanted to warn everyone about buying anything from this guy. Bought some line from Ryan Elliott (deisel722003) 704-564-0043. He cashed the check December 9th and I have not received anything. Called several times and left a number of messages with no response. Don't buy anything from this guy.

Hey Guys, if you used a postal money order to purchase his items, contact the Post Office to see if they can help get your money back, as this could be mail fraud, which is a federal offense. Have been told they might get involved. Worth a try.

You can always trace where he was using his computer to post ads in here. He may have done it somewhere other than his own home, but at least you can give that a try. See where the check was cashed and at what time. They may have cameras where he cashed it. Do a little CSI investigation.

Any scum is worth tracking down!!!! Never send check or cash. Best option is PayPal. Seller and buyer are protected.

Gosh man! So many scumbags out there! I hope you guys catch this low-life!

file a police report and get that dude arrested.

This would be interstate fraud ... it would be handled by the FBI, not local police!

Believe it or not, they do have an internet fraud site you can report this on. The locals will not act on it as this is an out of state action.

Here's some info on the FBI site

Since the offender is probably following this thread I won't say which web sites, but I contacted the owners of several sites and made them aware of this fellow.

I would hate to be in his shoes when a bass fisherman catches up to him.

yes, setup a paypal account. It will save you plenty. I never purchase things like this with anything else, but paypal. Thats the first thing that I ask for is if the seller has a paypal account. If the seller does not then I ask if their local seller. If not then I'll pass on the deal no matter how good of deal it is. Remember a really good deal can sound really good, but be cautious as to why the seller is selling it for dirt cheap.

Never send money order, check, or cash(unless your local).

You could file a stolen check with your bank. Your bank can investigate and in a couple of weeks will be able to know who cashed the check. They will have a picture or video clip of where and what teller he was using to cash the check.....

Buyers should always try to pay electronically. Sellers can accept PayPal payments with purchase details included by the buyer or offer PayPal invoicing which includes those details. Items can also be bought quickly on Ebay if the "Buy It Now" option is offered by the seller. The buyer will always get consumer protection with these three types of purchases. Checks and money orders do not provide the same protection.

Checks contain some personal information and specific account numbers which could be used by criminals. Money orders offer very limited support for the purchaser. Cash purchases notify potential robbers that the buyer will be holding cash. Electronic payments are the safest way for buyers to pay by improving personal protection, identity verification, collection of unpaid accounts, and law enforcement.

Good luck buying and selling, and have fun fishing!

On the flip side. Taking personal checks or money orders are also a risk. There are tons of fraudulent money orders floating around and personal checks are even worse. Even if a check has "cleared" there is still a perils of time that it can come back to bite you.

There are even tons of fraudulent cashiers checks out there these days.

Electronic is the set way to go.

a postal money order from the post office is also a good way to go, if they cash the m.o. and do not provide the product, it would be postal fraud as well, and the post office will also investigate the seller, this is also a federal offense.... i always get insurance as well, in case it gets lost, i will get reimbursed by the post office.... same with ups or fed ex, GET INSURANCE.... it saved me $200 on a broken cumara i shipped with fed ex, it was a hassle, but i got my money back

The Best way to get your money back is call the DA in the county he lives in and they will send you a form to fill out at no charge.
Put in all the info and copies of emails and check and send it to the DA certified and you will get the Ball rolling on getting this piece of human dung off the streets and the web.
Good luck.
P.S. I have been thru this before.
