Is the shimano castaic the best flippin' reel on the market? I just got a flippin' stick and I'm looking for a reel to match up with it. I'm partial to shimano so that's the one i was thinkg of getting. Any input would be great.
Thanks

I have 4 and I love them
I waited years for them to make the left handed model. Now I am happy

Yep, there the best!
Re: Flippin' reel question
I use mostly Diawa and ABU Garcia reels, but I have (4) of the Castaic's that I couldn't live without. They are AWESOME!!!!!!!!
Don't ask about my username, all I need to say is check yours and check them often.

Don't you mean Pitchin'?
I wouldn't call myself an expert on either technique but I always thought Flipping is done with the spool already engaged, while pitching is a technique for free spooling. If so, I don't see how the Castaic could be better for flipping. It IS a great reel for pitching though.

Re: Flippin' reel question
You should really check out the new Quantum line of PT products... they have a new Accurist PT reel that is made for flipping. Its also the only reel on the market with a ceramic drag system. Hands down the new Quantum reels are the best on the market ... compare them and see for yourself. Most of all, the pricing is better also. They have the new "Burner" 7:1 reel out now too. I can't say enough about the new products, Quantum has really stepped it up over the past couple of years ... dont take my word for it ... research it and compare you will see.

Re: Flippin' reel question
Bass Pro Shops sells a Kevin VanDam version of the Quantum reel, with six ball bearings and a flipping switch. It is every bit as smooth and good as the Accurist, and they put it on sale for $79.99 all the time. A great buy.
