Bobbys perfect frog change?

Post by Ceaser »

I heard something about snag proof changing the perfect frog design to incorporate the little air tube thing in the ish frog. Does anyone know if there is any truth to this.. and if so why ruin the best frog on the market? I hope this is just a vicious rumor ::fingers crossed::

Last summer, on a video shoot with both Bobby & Ish for the SnagProof event, they discussed this and Bobby embraced the change. He said the biggest complaint they got from guys, was the periodic sinking of the frog from taking on water in some small number of baits, this change, would resolve that and not affect the baits performance other wise.

Yeah thats what I thought. I better buy a stock of the old ones now! lol Its hard for me to believe it will not change the bait.. but what the heck do I know about frog fishing! :?: leave it to the masses to change a great thing.

I have a bunch of em Ceasar, it's such a subtle change, I've noticed no difference at all otherwise. Although, with that lil red marker trick ya showed me, it does make fer a more realistic, bulging bung hole! HAR!

hahahaha dang i showed you that trick too! Tell you the truth Cooch the thing I am worried about losing is the sound the frog makes when it hit the water, how many fish have you pounded on the second the bait splashes down, ya know?. And i thought that the minimal amount and thin plastic of the body allowed for the best hooksets. Im sure the're still fine baits... but you know how us bass guys are.. dont want a thing changed! thanks for the quik response tho Cooch.

That is good to hear, Bobby's Perfect "Cranking" Frog drove me crazy! I had a few and they all sank. Glad to hear it is being fixed.

This is actually the 3rd Generation of Bobby's Perfect Frog. The original was the softest material by far and the best bait produced in my opinion. The original had the skirted material as its entire leg held together by a small clear rubber band. 2G line of baits incorporated the lead on the hook shank and had small legs molded to the body with skirts inserted, they also switched up the skirt colors on Cicada and Sparrow. 2G also had a sinking problem, unless you took some lead off the hook shank and lightened it up . The 3G and newest, like Cooch stated incorporates the Phat Frog two chamber technology that is great for buoyancy, but the material is a little more rigid. But shouldn't effect hook sets much, if you make some subtle hook position adjustments. We all doctor up our frogs on the Delta to get a little different look than everybody else.

The new frog is better in my opinion.

I have been fishing it since early summer. In fact, I used 1 frog for the 2 days of the Snagproof open. 1 frog lasted all day and fished well enough for 7th out of 148 boats or whatever there was.
