Lowrance LCX-28C HD
Lowrance LCX-28C HD
I recently picked up a HDS-8 unit and this coming Saturday I'm getting the Structure Scan unit installed. Of course now I have to upgrade my other Lowrance unit but the wife says that before I can buy another HDS unit I have to sell my Lowrance LCX-28C HD Sonar/GPS Chartplotter Combo. The unit works great and I recently did the software update off of the Lowrance site. It will come with the box and all the paper work. I will include the brand new power cable and transducer that came with my HDS-8 unit.
I know how much the unit cost brand new and I dont expect to get that much out of it but I dont want to get ripped off either. What can I expect to get for it? Any reasonable offers?

Re: Lowrance LCX-28C HD
Have you determined how much you want for the unit?
Re: Lowrance LCX-28C HD
I'm interested in your graph. Is it still for sale? I'd like more info about it. You can either e-mail me at tibass or call me at (909) 525-6214.
Re: Lowrance LCX-28C HD
First off, thank you to everyone for the interest in my Lowrance LCX-28C HD. I’m finally getting very close to pulling the trigger and purchasing the HDS-10 unit so now I think I’m ready to sell it.
Anyhow, more information on the Lowrance LCX-28C HD that’s for sale.
First off, the unit came with my Champion when I purchased it in 2009. The boat was Rick Grover, owner of Anglers Marine, demo boat so it had the best stuff on it and it was well cared for. I’m not positive how old the unit is but since the boat is a 2008 I would guess it’s no older than that. Like I said, it’s in great shape, had the recent software update and works flawlessly.
Included will be the following;
The box, all the paper work including the manual, which looks brand new. I’ll also include the never been used Lowrance cleaning cloth.
Brand new never used power cable and skimmer transducer that came with my HDS-8 unit.
Mounting bracket.
New cover, I had trimmed the original one because the unit was mounted in the dash and the cover would not fit.
I will NOT be including the GPS puck because if I remove it I’ll have a hole in my boat.
If interested I’m also selling a Navionics Premium West chip dated Dec 2004. I’m not positive but I believe it was updated in early 2009 shortly before I purchased the boat. The reason its not currently updated because I didn’t find out about the free updates until last month and Navionics stopped offering then in December 2010. The reason I’m selling the chip is because I purchased a new Navionics Platinum chip and don’t need the Premium.
I personally would prefer local pickup, I live in Ridgecrest, or meet at a So Cal lake so you can verify everything works fine but shipping is a viable option as well.
As stated above, I know how much the unit sold for new and while I don’t expect to get the full price I don’t want to get ripped off either so only reasonable offers please.
If you have any questions please feel free to ask.
Thanks!

Re: Lowrance LCX-28C HD
Mike,
I have been checking on ebay lately for a LCX26HD....the previous model to the 28.
For a unit in good condition, with power cord, transducer, and gps antenna included....around $700.
Same unit without gps ant, transducer, and cord....$500
Yours is a little newer so it may be worth more.
They don`t last long on ebay, so you should be able to do ok on your sale.
Good luck.

Re: Lowrance LCX-28C HD
Thanks for the information.
I would like to get more but would settle for around $600.00, which would include the Navionics Premium Chip. Do you think thats realistic of me?
Maybe I should try putting it on eBay

Re: Lowrance LCX-28C HD
Mike, I think $600 is a real good deal, especially with the chip, antenna, etc.
Keep in mind ebay will keep a small portion of your money but I would guess that you will get more for it if you start the auction at $600.

Re: Lowrance LCX-28C HD
I have one I am thinking about selling with the GPS puck and I think $600 is reasonable. Just an FYI, if you are leaving the power cord from the LCX in the boat to power an HDS, make sure you tape off and do not use the NEMA power wires that are used to power the NEMA 2000 network. They will not work with HDS units and could fry both units. You must purchase a power node if the units are connected by NEMA and even if they aren't be sure to unhook those wires!

Thanks for the replies guys. I figured $600.00 would be a fair price.NoCAL wrote:Just an FYI, if you are leaving the power cord from the LCX in the boat to power an HDS, make sure you tape off and do not use the NEMA power wires that are used to power the NEMA 2000 network. NoCAL, thanks for the advice, even though I had Anglers Marine hook it up for me I guess I still should check to be sure the wire is not connected. Also, what is this Power Node you mentioned?

Re: Lowrance LCX-28C HD
Power node supplies power to the NEMA network with HDS units. You may or may not have this network installed. With HDS units sometimes they are only running ethernet connections. But if you want livewell temp sensors, an LGC4000 GPS antenna, or to connect to a Mercury SmartCraft guage and show it on the HDS you need the NEMA network. The power node looks like a T with black and red wires coming out the top. They get hooked to a switched power source and supply power to the network.
