Millerton and Pine Flat...Any lake by Fresno, they all suck.
I have to agree...I live here but don't fish those lakes often anymore...Pine Flat holds the World Record Spotted bass..But it is very hit or miss...Millerton puts out nothin but 13 to 14 '' ers...One three pounder wins the tournament.

Jhorn and Skeeterman don't give up on Don Pedro yet. Its an awesome lake. If you don't want to go out with me on a guide trip, then email me or call me the next time you want to give it a try. I will help you as much as I can. Pedro is a good place to hit right now in the evenings. If you want a report right now let me know. I am consistantly getting 15-20lbs each trip with my biggest 5 in the past few weeks to now. Call me at (209) 604-8222 or email at mike@fishwrangler.net or www.fishwrangler.net

+1 for Don Pedro. I have won a couple club tournaments there over the years but it kicks my a$$ most of the time.

Mine would have to be CL, I have fished it a ton and love it but never can seem to find anything over 5lbs...maybe one day...

In regards to LOP, I live 15 minutes from there and am dying to try it out but I understand the HOA BS. I used to fish Lake Wildwood another gated community which had public access. We would launch the little row boat and have killer days. Last memorial day we had over 60 fish for our best 5 around 22 or so. Now they have built a fence to keep us out but not for long....The public access has been there for to long and the water is state owned so there is some legal issues with that fence, about to file some paperwork to get it fixed!!!

I know what you mean about missing the LOP fishing as I miss my LWW fishing the same, it is a shame that someone who caught and released every fish caught on the lake is kept out. Heck I even shared with the home owners on their docks what the fish were biting and how to fish it, gave away a ton of baits too...Oh well life goes on!!!!

You know, we always called each other goodfellas. Like, you'd say to somebody: "You're gonna like this guy; he's all right. He's a goodfella. He's one of us." You understand? We were goodfellas, wiseguys.

Casitas. Dead sea of all dead seas. Some lakes you can go, and at least catch dinks, something at least. But Casitas, feast or famine. I've sight fished to multiple beds filled with fish with frickin' 4lb test and live bait (long before I got serious into bassin), and still been refused on that lake. The potential is there. Look at the sacks when it turns on, and Casitas is amazing. Ask Matt Newman or the Bailey boys, or elfish16. The last few years have been hard on the big fish without consistent trout stocks, but the amount of shad and craws makes for an amazing amount of 4-8lb fish in that lake right now. But if its off, or you don't fish enough to pattern them, good luck son!
I love Castaic. Its a fun place. Dead of winter and shad season are tough, but so are most SoCal lakes, especially when the fish turn on the live shad and nothin else. But I've had 50 fish days with my bud fishing the upper, and still look forward to more. Just like some guys say about Casitas I bet

I'd have to go with Lower Otay. I don't always struggle out there. I've even won a couple times. The problem is consistency. I just can't keep that lake dialed in. It's either really good or just horrible.

I have to go with pleasant in AZ or mead. They dont call pleasant lake humble for nothing. Although they are not fishing many tournaments there anymore, the pressure should be much less, most of the tourneys have been moved to roosevelt. Mead, if you dont live there or spend a lot of time there, the water rises and drops so much it becomes a different lake every time you fish.

Dockboy, i iunderstand your frustrations. You need to know the spots on Casitas now days. I don't even get on the lake as much as I'd like, if lucky twice on a weekend. Casitas has turned into a deep water bite mainly year round and can be brutally tough. I've had to change my approach to this lake drastically over the last 3 years. Each year I throw the swimbaits but for the bites I get, I get the same sized fish on jigs and worms in greater numbers and less sore shoulders.

Casitas went from a 30-40lb limit a day lake to a 20-25lb a day limit lake. its a blast out there and the numbers can be good...but you do have to fish hard and adapt to the smaller baits and much more finesse. Split Shot reapers, drop shot 4" worms, jigs(still very affective) and shakey heads. The way Casitas was biting in the 80's is how its biting now.

For me, the toughest lake to fish is always the last one I was on! Most recently, it was Castaic. Man did they have lockjaw last Saturday.
