Numerous agencies searched Saturday for a San Francisco man who is believed to have fallen overboard while fishing off Big Break in Eastern Contra Costa County, according to the Coast Guard.
At 2:16 p.m., the Coast Guard received a report from a witness who noticed an empty 20-foot recreational fishing boat adrift in the Delta. With the motor still in the water and fishing poles and food aboard, it appeared someone had just been there, according to the Coast Guard.
The missing fisherman was identified as Harry Lee, 51, of San Francisco, according to the Contra Costa sheriff's office.
A response boat from Station Rio Vista arrived at 3:02 p.m. and was later joined by a Coast Guard auxiliary boat, Contra Costa sheriff marine unit, and a helicopter from Air Station San Francisco, according to the Coast Guard.
Although Lee is believed to have been wearing a lifejacket, it was reported it was a manually inflatable lifejacket, said Coast Guard Lt. Simone Mausz.
The boat owner's truck was found in the parking lot of Lauritzen's Marina in Oakley.
Lee's family was contacted by police, Mausz said.
The search continued late into Saturday night after 9:30 p.m. Search and rescue, including divers, plan to return Sunday morning to continue the search.

The Contra Costa County Sheriff's Office suspended its search for a missing fisher off Big Break in the eastern part of the county Sunday afternoon.
The search is likely to continue Monday, a Sheriff's Office spokesman said.
Harry Lee, 51, of San Francisco, is presumed to have fallen off a 20-foot recreational fishing boat sometime Saturday. The boat was found adrift in the Delta about 2:15 p.m. by other boaters.
Its motor was still in the water. Fishing poles and food were found aboard. The U.S. Coast Guard believed the boat had been occupied recently.
Lee was believed to have been wearing a manually inflatable lifejacket, Coast Guard Lt. Simone Mausz said. His truck was found in the parking lot of Lauritzen's Yacht Harbor in Oakley.
Sheriff's spokesman Jimmy Lee did not say whether the victim is believed to be dead.
"We're probably going to be out in the water searching (Monday)," he said.
Two Coast Guard boats, a Contra Costa sheriff's marine unit and a helicopter took part in the search Saturday and the Coast Guard called off its search Saturday night after scouring about 46 square nautical miles, spokesman David Font said.
"We have no more leads to investigate," he said.

But I hope it is not the person I am thinking of (singole console ranger/dragon silk jacket) because they located his truck - and not a truck/trailor combo .... and he keeps his boat there.
Mike and I were just talking about him the other day.

I hear you, it sucks to hear that this happened to anybody. Let alone somebody you might know. Not sure if it will help you out at all, but here is a link to an article in the Merc that has a pic of his boat, looks like a Skeeter.......

Re: coast guard/sheriff helicopter over Big break?
I found this boat that had drifted against the row of pilings at the West side of Big Break and reported it to the Coast Guard. It was a small white and blue Skeeter with a 90 hp Yamaha on it.The press made some inaccurate reports about the motor running etc. but the Coast Guard and Sherrifs Dept have the correct info. The trolling motor was down in the fishing position, 2 rods were on deck and a net was in the splash well which I thought was odd.
Re: coast guard/sheriff helicopter over Big break?
Sorry you had to come across something like that BrothA Bill.
Still nothing today as and update. Only that the Sheriffs will be making more patrols and stops in Big Break looking.

OAKLEY -- The Contra Costa Sheriff's marine patrol, a dive team and a California Highway Patrol helicopter spent the daylight hours Monday searching the Delta for a San Francisco fisherman presumed overboard this past weekend.
Harry Lee, 51, is believed to have been on a 20-foot fishing boat sometime Saturday off the Big Break -- northeast of Oakley -- and boaters found his vessel adrift that afternoon. Its motor was still in the water and fishing poles and food were found aboard.
Lee is also believed to have been wearing an inflatable life jacket. His truck was found parked at Lauritzen's Yacht Harbor in Oakley.
Three days of searching, initially aided by the Coast Guard, have not yielded and any traces of Lee.
The sheriff's marine patrol will continue to search for Lee from their regular patrols Tuesday, said sheriff's spokesman Jimmy Lee, and deputies will decide in the morning if the dive team will return.

OAKLEY -- Authorities continue to search for a San Francisco fisherman presumed to have gone overboard in the Delta last weekend, and have put out statewide alerts in case he turns up outside Contra Costa County.
Harry Lee, 51, is believed to have been on a 20-foot fishing boat sometime Saturday off the Big Break -- northeast of Oakley -- and boaters found his vessel adrift that afternoon. Its motor was still in the water, and fishing poles and food were found aboard.
His truck was found parked at Lauritzen's Yacht Harbor in Oakley.
Lee has been entered into a state missing persons database, and area hospitals have been told to keep an eye out for him.
Several agencies led by the sheriff's marine patrol have made several attempts this week to find Lee. On Wednesday, a dive team returned to the waters to continue their search, assisted by the Alameda County Sheriff's Office and the California Department of Boating and Waterways.
Lee is described as an Asian male, 5 feet 8, 135 pounds, with gray hair, brown eyes, and wearing an olive green sweatshirt and dark pants.
Anyone with any information on Lee is asked to call the Contra Costa Sheriff's Office at 925-646-2441.

Is the missing boater one of the "Lee Brothers" that used to post photos of huge bass on this site?
Re: coast guard/sheriff helicopter over Big break?
I don't believe so fer two reasons, first, those two ALWAYS fish together and in all my years here, I have never seen one of them alone. Secondly, if it was, locally, we would have all heard about it by now.Fin Addict wrote:Is the missing boater one of the "Lee Brothers" that used to post photos of huge bass on this site?

If he indeed fell in and drowned, much like the lil boy in the Mendota Canal, it's been 11 days and he should be rising to the surface here very soon, if he's not already in some tulle grove somewhere.B Becker wrote:any updates on this story?? crazy if this guy is still missing!!
Re: coast guard/sheriff helicopter over Big break?
No don't think so that would be John and Ron Lee. "The Lee Brothers"

I had imagined as well if he had bacame seperated from his boat - that he would try to make it thru the grass beds and tullies- with the houses as a centerpiece of focal point.
Not a preaty picture at all - and not livable in the least with the current water temps at below 50F.
I have some self vids of/in the back side of BBReak in a mudboat that will blow you all away for all what is behind them tullies and ponds that you can not reach.
But this DEFIANTELY not the thread, time or place to them.
......Just saying - There is another BBreak "beyond BBreak" - and then ALOT more Grass/Tulies/Ponds than you could ever imagine in there....And than no normal person could ever walk out of alive-- And it always does not show up on Google as well.
