Just a few highlights for the tournaments:
February 4th (this Friday) is the last day to register for the WON to avoid a penalty.
Feb. 5th – The 2nd Annual No Slot Tournament – free entry into the FLW for winning teams. Contact John Sneed at 928-581-6299 to sign up.
Feb 11th –
-GCSO LP will be at Cholla upper lot and at the dock 10:00AM-2:00PM performing boat inspections. This is completely voluntary but may avoid an inspection during the tournament. One inspection is good for both WON and FLW.
-WON Registration Meeting 2:00-5:30 PM – Pairing Meeting 6:00-7:00 PM
Feb 12th & 13th
-Cart drivers and traffic volunteers (with flashlights) will assist WON anglers to launch boats and get drivers back down to the dock. PLEASE BE EXTREMELY CAREFUL, THERE WILL BE A LOT OF ACTIVITY AT THE CHOLLA LOT AND RAMP. IT WILL BE DARK WHILE MOST BOATS ARE BEING LAUNCHED.
-WON stage and weigh-in will take place in Cholla upper parking lot. As boats return from fishing, carts will be waiting to take driver to the upper parking lot to retrieve the truck. After boat is trailered, take it to the upper lot to park and take fish to the weigh-in area.
-Food, chips and drink will be provided for a charitable donation, live music and live radio interviews will take place up until the weigh-in starts.
-The final day weigh-in will take place at Cholla with the winners announced at the Awards Ceremony held at the Mazatzal Hotel and Casino in Payson starting at 5:00 PM. Raffle prizes and WON announcements will be made. Billy Egan will emcee the Awards Ceremony.
Feb. 15th
-GCSO LP boat safety inspections at Cholla upper lot and dock 10:00AM-2:00PM
-FLW Angler Appreciation Dinner at the Mazatzal H & C. Price is only $5 per person. Doors open at 6:30PM. Buffet dinner, all you can eat!
-8:00-8:30PM Guest speakers Mike Folkestad and John Murray will entertain us with some knowledge sharing and funny fishing stories. Ron Lappin will host this portion of the dinner. We have received very nice donations from businesses in Gila County and the FLW. Some gifts are valued over $250. We will have raffle drawings every 5 minutes during dinner and the talks.
Feb. 16th
-GCSO LP boat safety inspections at Cholla upper lot and dock 10:00AM-2:00PM
-FLW Registration 4:00-6:00 PM – Pre-tournament meeting 6:30-8:00
Feb 17th & 18th
-Support will be the same as the WON, just a larger number of boats and more volunteers to keep things moving.
-AGAIN, USE EXTREME CAUTION- CARTS, PREDESTRIANS, COLOR GUARDS, MEDIA, FANS, ETC. WILL ALL BE IN THE AREA.
Feb 19th
Weigh-ins will take place at the Payson Wal-Mart store. We plan to have a lot of activities, booths, National Guard displays and more to support the final day. Activities will start around noon at Wal-Mart. College weigh-in begin at 2:30PM with the EverStart anglers arriving at 4:00PM.
