BEST FLURO FOR PITCHIN/FLIPPIN THE DELTA?

Post by WANNA HOOK BIGGIN'S »

Guy's I am new to flurocarbon and I have tried the 20lb seagur abrazx for flippin/pitchin i was just wondering if you guy's had preferences for a certain brand of fluro when it comes to 20 and 25lb for this application? I have heard good things about P-line Halo and berkley 100% and like I said i like the Seagur abrazx. Any advice or comparisons are appreciated.

Thanks

I have been using Berkley Vanish for years now and I have not had any problems with it. It is also a lot cheaper than the Seagur that you are using.

Save you money, and buy BPS. Today's fluorocarbon fishing lines, as opposed to the old fluoro leader material, is so much more manageable you probably can't go wrong with any of the major brands, and 20-25lb fluoro is all going to be a little stiffer, anyway.
Just retie often, and wet you knots, and you'll be fine.

All sugar lines are super quality..I have been sticking to the invisx and abrasx... no flaws and consistent quality... the consistent quality has always been my concern... sugar has never let me down yet!!

Do you have any experience with the P-line halo or the berkley 100% fluro's? I too love the abrazx I am just wondering if the Halo or berkley 100% or even just the standard p-line fluro will work well for me to flip/pitch with on the delta?

Thanks

Having tired both Seaguar Abrazx and Pline Halo in 20lb & 15 lb test on my shimano core 51mg & 101mg.. i've chosen to stick with Seaguar.. i've lost a few fish on Pline before so i'm sticking with Seaguar, though i believe this was due to user error as i probably didn't retie the lure.. most snap was not at the knot..

I have been using P-Line for almost 20 years and just recently tried Seaguar Invisx and will be slowly switching over all of my reels . I watched my co- anglers in Arizona and California fish heavy cover with ease, and watched how hard it was to break when they were snagged  . It is smaller in diameter and from what I have seen so far it is stronger, with minimal memory, minimal abrasion and excellent knot strength. I also broke off on a fish about 4lbs this last Sunday in a tournament with brand new 12 lb P-Line floro that should not have broke under the circumstances   This was the deciding factor for me.

I gave up on all of it and went back to mono.
I tried several of the big name fluros and all of them seem to be weak.

fold any of it compltey in half and it is weakened. it is britlle and dose not like alot of the knots I use.

get a back lash and on the next cast it breaks sending your bait 50 yards out into the water pulling 30 yards of line with it.

berkley big game, green maxima, power pro braid and spider wire braid is all I need.
I really do not see the big deal of fluro. its just the thing to do so we all try it.
just shut up and fish

my current favorite is Maxima 100% Fluorcarbon with a close second being Berkley 100% NO VANISH for me - I like the maxima for flippin and pitch it is like Piano wire and I feel the bite and bait better through it, it also does not feel stretchy for me - sorry ivinix guys I tried it and it felt real stretchy - but makes a great swimbait leader for braid to fluro. The Berkley seems a little bit more limp, and I like it for cranks, jerks, and senkos but the Maxima line diameter for the same rated line was .2mm thinner- just my humble opinion the Line price that is sub 20.00 for 200 - when i was single and rich I like the Sugio

I have used P-Lien halo for pitching and flipping for a few years, in 20lb. Works fine, good knot strength. I won't use anything but flouro for jigs and plastics. I use Seaguar Inviz-X for everything else requiring flouro, and its great too. Braid-flouro, or straight mono don't give you the sensitivity flouro has. Its the only type of line where you can feel the "tick" of a fish inhaling your jig on a semi-slack line. You would never feel that bite on mono.

I use fluorocarbon on about 70% of the time on my rods and it’s preferred by Elite Pros so I can’t be too wrong. Of course if you’re a tournament angler who makes a living then you would want the best but if you are like me you probably don’t need the premium high cost line.

I have been using Seaguar Red Label because it is a real good line and still leaves a few nickels in my pocket.

As for using fluorocarbon for Flipping it really does not matter what brand you use. The bait is not that long in the water and you have a constant tension on the line – well at least I do. I have used braid for Flipping and I like it, I have even used “Gorilla” and blacken the first 10 yards with a magic marker. I would even use that anchor rope Vicious for Flipping. But I would not use Mono it has too mush stretch for me for Flipping. And when I set the hook I’m ripping some lip. I would also not use Vanish – I have snapped in two when setting the hook. For Flipping I would go with fluorocarbon or braid.

Pitching is a different story, I only use fluorocarbon because the bait will be in the water longer and the line will lose the tension and fluorocarbon transfers the smallest vibration. And since I switch from Flipping to Pitching at any given moment I have fluorocarbon loaded on my reels - Seaguar Red Label, 20 lbs.
