Congrats to Ron Tobey who has to have had the comeback tournament of a life. On Thursday afternoon, his boat was lying in the middle of the street after being hit by a car and skidding a good 50-75 yards.
He loads the boat back on the trailer, goes out and fishes his butt off in the midst of two days of pouring cold rain, and emerges victorious with a two day sack just shy of 60 lbs.
Full story will be out in a few days, but here is how they finished at Clear Lake.

USAC CLEAR LAKE PRO AM FINAL - PRO
Make it idiot proof and someone will invent a better idiot
Re: USAC CLEAR LAKE PRO AM FINAL - PRO
Thought the preview post said something about 100+ boats???? So where did they go? Congrats to the winner and all those that toughed it out.
Fishing should be fun.

Flipit,
I stated we were anticipating 100 boats for this event and had 85 signed up prior to the event, so the numbers were looking good. Obviously, the weather that rolled in this weekend had a major impact on additional sign ups. Likewise with any pro am event, we had several anglers pull out the last two days for a variety of reasons including inability to get here due to transportation corridors being closed by snow, dog bites requiring hospitalization, etc....
There were also a couple of events that drew a team or two who wanted to fish, but opted to fish other events.

Fishing should be fun.

I was there too! Hats off to the tournaments officials for not canceling this . Seems to becoming a trend for some "FAIR WEATHER" tournament organizations.Doug Warren wrote:I was there and it was NASTY.....My hat is off to all the teams that figuired out how to catch' em.
BTW, even though I did struggle for 5 days I did get to net Dana McGrift's 11.94# monster from the back of the "GREENE MACHINE"! Congratulations to Dana for surviving that day and catching that fish.
