Riddle answer
Riddle answer
I love it! I have seen so many great answers to this question.
The actual answer is:
Wash your hands with unscented soap.
You cannot believe what odors are on your hands just from getting your boat ready to go.
And the first thing you do is touch the bait.
I have my soap right next to the driver's seat, so when I get to my fishing area, I just wet my hands
over the side, wash off my hands, then dry them. Now I am ready to fish.
Good job guys.

Re: Riddle answer
Noooooo...
You already got your gunky/stinky hands all over your steering wheel, gear lever, trolling motor handle, etc. etc. So when you touch any of those again, you just got yer hands all funked up again...
You wear surgical gloves when you get your boat ready, fill it with gas, unhook it for launch, put in the drain plug, etc... Then you take the surgeons gloves off before you touch the boats steering wheel or trolling motor pull handle... or... you wash your hands right after you put the boat in the water, but before you gunk up the steering wheel or trolling motor, or a fishing rod.
Your way is kinda like setting the table for dinner with greasy hands, cooking dinner, serving dinner, and going to wash yer hands right before you eat off the grease smudged silverware and plates.
Most of us make sure we have clean hands before we get to the place we want to fish (where soapy water might turn off a fish

Dude,
That is definitely gonna get soap and lake water into your beer!
Think you may need to re-examine your priorities!

All other things being equal, I'd rather be catchin' than fishin'

Re: Riddle answer
Just stick your hands in a bag of anchovies, sardines or what ever fish you have a preference for. Now your really ready to fish.

Re: Riddle answer
man, i thought there was going to be some sort of clever ending to this...
I just use a scent like bang or gulp to mask whatever finger funk i may have, and i hardly do that. Think about it.... a live shad or craw fish doesnt really smell fishy... somewhat aquatic but not rotten clam.

Gods honest truth;Ive spit copenhagen on my worm and have caught big ones.Scent doesnt matter that much. You need to be in the right place, set up on the spot correctly, and cast to the alpha spot.
