Bass forage question at Diamond Valley

Im wondering what you guys think....as we are guys looking to catch more and bigger fish a simple rule we usually follow is to try to mimic the current forage that the bass happen to be on at that particular time. For example...if there is a crawdad bite, we are throwing jigs, ikas, etc... if there are shad explosions we are throwing shad type baits. This leads me to my question:

I know that there are prickly sculpin in DVL. How much of the forage for bass do you think they make up in that lake? We can all agree that oxblood robos are always a go-to bait for good numbers at DVL. I always thought their color and action mimics a crawdad. Perhaps it mimics more of a prickly sculpin in color and action? Am I off base on this? Im working hard to understand the unique biology of this lake in particular. Hoping it will make me a better fisherman. Can I get your opinions on this idea?

experimenting is fun. you gotta have the balls to try different stuff otherwise your just following trends of other guys that do...

maybe try some small brown 3inch swimbaits on a very short dropshot rig never fished dvl but it works on mead for offshore smallies.
