XTools cull scale-Is this for real?

Post by raymond »

Fished the FPT circuit at Oroville this weekend.Caught lots of fish and needed to cull many times(small fish).
Anyways-at the end of the day XTools says I have 11.12lbs.Get to the weigh in and they weigh 10.60.
Guess my question is--Have you found your XTools to not be accurate? If you have is there a way to remedy it(bad battery--not")
Thats over a pound inaccurate.
Sometimes i will weigh a fish and it says cull #5 and when I put the cull fish on a balance beam it is wrong.
How reliable are these units and what is best--what do the pros do?

I have one and on a few occasions it has been off a bit when I don't verify close culls with a balance beam...when it comes to culling alot of fish, I end up using a balance beam quite a bit to check. I think you'd be hard pressed to find a hand scale that reads in ounces that will always accurately tell you which fish to cull, especially when you have two or more fish that register the same weight. It's worth it to beam them to verify which one to toss and not rely on which one the scale tells you to toss.

I had this same problem with this scale. I finally got it off my boat. I went to the Rapala Touch Screen......LOVE IT!

Spots tend not to hod still while tou weigh them. If you culled multiple times as a i suspect you did, its easy to be off a little each time. The actual difference is less than a pound and closer to 9 ounces. Might not be as inaccurate as you think.
