The town of Oroville sucks

They need to flush that town down the drain. Cool lake with a lot of fish thats on a upswing, but a crank infested town that stinks, and is getting worse. Lets put Casinos in a meth town, way to think that one through. Ive been going to that town fishing since I was 16, either for salmon or bass. Im 29 now and over the years it has gone to sh*t. Next tournament I have up there I'll be takeing the 75 mile trip home after pre fish, and wake up and drive back.

Never had a problem there at all. Ive been going there for many many years. Always stay at the Best Value Inn, and its always been good.

Oroville is a rough town but the lake fishes good and The Best Chinese Restaraunt back to 1912 is there.

I been have fishing Oroville since 1988 and never had a problem. I always stay at the Motel 6 and only once had a problem. When I got up in the morning, about 3 hours before daylight, another bass boat had unplugged my charger and plugged his in. My batteries had more than enough power for the day, so no harm.

what was the point of this post? everyone likes to fish oroville and if you dont like the town or anything dont go there. Clear lake is just as bad and no one complains about it. Just my 2 cents.

I actually agree on this one.
Last couple of times our club has gone there we've had issues.
Sort of thing that keeps a club from going back again is too many bad experiences regardless of what they are.

Two years ago I resorted to leaving the Motel 6 at 10 and getting my refund for that night. Slept as best as I could in Bidwell parking lot in front seat of my truck.

I sure hope Oroville can do something about the break-ins and such. Beautiful lake that I enjoy fishing.
As business start to go under when the tourism drops they will hopefully get the message.
Apparently in Redding/Shasta they understand this now in a different way and are trying to keep lake levels up.

My 2 cents.

Don't stay at motel 6, that went downhill years ago.I would rather pay a few extra bucks and go to americas best value inn, never had a problem there and they do give a Fishermans discount.like every town or city there are good and bad areas it just so happens that the area around motel 6 is a bad area.

I stayed at the best value inn during the ac pro am last jan. the rates were good as were the rooms and parking, no issues, yea there alot of shady people in that town, especially in the motel 6 area,americas best value inn is better located with good breakfast just down the road and tong fong low( Old down town) has excelllent food since 1912! Room rates are always negotiable they will work with you at the best value they have lots of rooms...and LOTS of power outlets .

I didn't mention Americas best, but lets just say we were there last year.
Lock your stuff in your room, don't put a cover on your boat either.
Covers were cut to get to stuff.

I did like the place and it's really setup well for boaters and small clubs that like to stay together.
We just had problems two nights in a row.
