Clicked on link and The 201e7 says its $179-, not $135....Your post describes them all as $135.

Why not give them a call and see if they will extend the promo to the 201 series, the post does state the 200 e is on sale 1800-737-5181

I wish I would have seen this earlier - I love my 201E7 - best pitching reel in its price range that shimano has made IMHO.

Every retailer will have the E7's on sale shortly since it appears that this is the end of the line for this version.

Thats a damn shame, Shimano has been too frequent in updating the curado reels IMO - this reel was the reel deal - its great in terms of blowout pricing but I dont know what a "curado" really is these days with design changes on the same reel name every three years.

I agree. What is a Curado?

Shimano is a first rate marketing company. When they figure out a way to make them cheaper and make the old version obsolete they bring out the next revision. New acronyms, performance and a larger margin. I'm currently using five 201E7's and a 51 with no plans of changing for another year or two.

whatever your opinion is, this fact remains. I doubt you will ever see this quality of reel at this price point again. Anyone needing or wanting new reels, this is an awesome opportunity to pull the trigger!

One other thing. I guarantee you won't find any of these left if you wait more than a week or so......These will become a highly coveted, much sought after unit after they are gone. Watch and see!

Is it safe to say since we know you have already inspected the new version that the old unit it superior or a better value? Many have claimed that they are concerned about the quality of the new version which will be sourced from Malaysia vs the current which is from Japan.
