This is why you always stop and help someone out!

Post by george »

About three weeks ago I was heading back to central Cal from the SoCal desert area on a trip I make for business about once a month. Lets just say that I have stopped and helped out several people at different times that were broke down along I-5 and 99 and just looked like they might need a hand with the only thought in mind of maybe someday when myself or my family is in need someone will stop and help; you know create a little carma!
Well I was a few miles north of Atwater coming into Livingston on 99 when I see a fellow angler on the shoulder with a shreadded tire on the boat trailer. I pulled over and found that the tire was so mangled that the driver could get his jack under the cross member to jack it up.
I had a smaller jack in my Cherokee and we proceeded to get the trailer up and the tire changed and get this guy back on the road to meet some folks at the delta.
He introduced him self as Dennis and asked me for a business card which I gave him and he asked me what kind of rod that I could really use; I said man I dont need any thing but a thank you and a hand shake.
We'll this last Friday I get a call and he says what is your mailing address? I have a custom rod that I built for you and I can ship it today, where are you located?
I received one of the prettiest custom built rods I have ever seen in my life, it is a true work of art and was put together by someone who really knows and loves building custom fishing rods.

It just goes to show you that when you do something out of kindness and dont expect anything from it you can really be suprised some times in what happens in return.

Thank you Dennis Papike of CalWest Custom Rods, man you are an artist and made my day! I will be out using it tomorrow on the delta.

PS.. if you guys ever need a tour grade custom casting, spinning or fly rod built to your needs you need to get in touch with Dennis at Cal West, you will ge glad you did.. :D :D :D

Thanks again Dennis,

George more than deserved that rod as a gesture of appreciation. It was hotter than hades out and he probably saved me a couple of hours of major frustration.

Thanks again George your a true gentleman, enjoy the rod.

What goes around, comes around. :D

George. Have to agree with you on Cal-West rods. Works of art is right. His workmanship is off the charts. Absolutely love the crankbait rod Dennis has built for me. Have a brand new dropshot rod that I'm hoping to get wet this weekend. I like the fact that the rods are made to my wishes. Each one is pretty to look at, tough, and fish extremely well.

Karma is real! Pre-fished for 2 days at Clear lake earlier this year and had one dink both days, couldn't get bit. On the way in Saturday evening, saw a guy paddling against the wind by Indian Island toward Redbud. He couldnt believe someone stopped to help. Towed him in and caught our first 20 pound bag Sunday on 6 bites! Go figure.

great to hear there are still people willing to help their fellow man. we had a similar incident with a bad blow out this last weekend and we watched as a few anglers / boaters just drove on by. they had the nerve to look our way to see why we were stopped, but as we tried to flag them down they just looked away and kept on going.
hope karma bites them back hard.

Carma can be a great and i do believe what come around goes around. I did loose a tire on I-5 just south of Williams this past saturday on our way home from the WRL Clearlake tourney. And like blkdog said we watched as people who fished the tourney with us just drive right past. Thanks guys, but not to worry if I see you stranded on the water I will still stop to lend a hand. Carma I'm a believer. Then good ol Randy Pringle came along after close to 2 hours of setting in the sun in the heat of the day. The AAA tow truck didn't even have the right lug wrench to change my tire. Randy your a life saver and like I said what comes around goes around. Thanks again, Rich
P.S. I now have the right lug wrench in my truck
