Pudd 4/14

Can u say pudd hole brown. No site fishing.. reaction baits for 4 fish 10-11 lbs. This is a wierd spring over here dark water usually clears up a little by now. The water is 64-66 degrees 1-2 ft. visibility at best. Oh well good for the bed fish you can't see a damn thing.

Hey Tom, we haven't met but I have neard alot about you. BTW, Scott and Mike from Famous Lures say "Hi". I've fished with them several times now at the Pudd and they have to be 2 of the nicest guy's out there. Anyway, if you are ever looking for a backseater at the Pudd and someone to split the day's expenses, hit me up. I've spent alot of time off the shore and in my tube there. I'd like to try some new territory... -Rich

I'll let you know next time I go out. I got Pyramid and Piru to fish for the next couple of weeks but after that I'll go. Hope either the water clears up or weeds start growing. In years past when spawn sucks there postspawn is good. I think these fish are a little behind. I'll PM you. Scott and Mikey are good friends of mine. JB, I see these guys 3 times a week. I'll let them know u would like to talk to them.

Sounds good Tom. Good luck at Pyru and Pyramid. Let me know if your non-boater bails out on you for the Top Stick Joes. I was supposed to fish it this season but my partner has been ill for the past few months.

best five = 18+ lbs had a very good day out there on all different kinds of stuff in all different kinds of places. very rare for this place during the day

That's a good day on the Pudd..............good job.

I can't believe I'm going to say this but a few years back there were two boats on the Pudd, me and Henry Shorr. This was so long ago I was still in a Champion.

Like I said the only two on the lake was Henry and me. Around 10:30 or 11 Henry yelled at me and asked me to take some pictures of his fish for him. Together we had 9 fish. They weighed in at a little over 68 pounds. I had 5 and Henry had 4. Henry's 4 fish weight a little over 40 pounds................yup 4 fish each a little over 10 pounds apiece. Henry had several other fish later that day in the 6 to 8 pound range but he kept throwing them back. He was trying to get a 50 pound limit but the closest he got was 48. He was actually testing a new bait from 3:16.

I caught well over 20 fish that morning. My best that day was 28 pounds each and everyone on a spinnerbait. I was actually testing new spinnerbaits that day from a new company trying to establish itself. I haven't seen a daytime weight like that since.

Lost a toad on a big crank when it surfaced I could see that it had one barb of the rear treble and it bent it out when it belly flopped. Yeah Henry is a master of that lake for sure, seems like a good guy too. Those are some impressive numbers there. There are some giants still in there. It seems like the flood of 2005 messed up the water clarity of the lake, the crawdad population has definitely diminished from it, but the lake is going through a cycle of an abundance of big shad and they were tearing them up like a paper shredder yesterday right near my boat. I haven't seen anything like it at Pudd. One was chasing a shad and pinned against the side of my boat and ate it. I could not believe what I was seeing. There were dead shad all beat up missing scales and bent in half floating on top in the current. They were just eating everything I threw at em yesterday mostly powerfishing. Just one of those rare days at the Pudd.
