Obviously these are the year to date standings since this was our first of four events. My thanks to the staff, sponsors(Anglers Marine, Roboworm, The Trolling Motor Dr, Revenge Baits, Maxima Line, and Costa Del Mar sunglasses,) and all the anglers that came out to fish. A big shout out goes to 4 guys this weekend. Two to Jerry B and Keith Rini for driving back to Glendale to pick up a dry boat when the inspector found a drop of water in Jerry's bilge, and the other two to Cliff Gregory and John Younce. Cliffs boat was found to have a tiny bit of water in his bilge so the boat was not allowed in the gate. But, in true CHUD fashion, Younce lent his boat to Cliff for the day. So Cliffs morning preperation consisted of transferring his tackle into another boat and getting mentally refocused.
Thanks Guys.
Our next event is April 17 at Pyramid. Entries are being accepted starting today.

DL;
Can you give us an insight to the inspections at DVL? It sounds to me like they have intensified the regular inspection we have grown to be acostomed too? Ive had my boat inspected many times at DVL, is it status quo or did these guys just not prepare their boats the way they should have?
One drop of water in the bilge sounds pretty harsh! Was that drop coming from the plug hole or actually down in the bilge compatment? You cant even see my bilge on my Champion 200 without taking out the batteries.
Thanks; Big Ed!

What you say is meaningless.........What you do is everything!

Ed,
From what I gathered the last 2 times I have been there. They are looking real close at the dry wells, screens and drains. They are also looking in the screen on the bottom of the boat as well as the motor. Make sure you tilt your motors down to empty all the water out of the prop area as well. While I would say the inspections are more intensive then before, coming to the lake clean as dry will help you a bunch. Make sure you look over your dry well and bilge before you enter the line for inspection, also check your battery trays for water as well. Remember that condensation can build up during your trip or if you park at a hotel over night. A quick wipe down before you enter the line will help.

If you can see it, dry it. Also, the inspections are done in the dark with a flashlight. Water refracts and reflects light. Any area that is in the least bit wet, will show under a flashlight. This is where I think they are getting guys on the inspection. The night before you go to the lake, take a flashlight and go over every inch of your livewell, bilge area, battery compartments, plug hole, motor, and any other area you can think of. Even the inside of your livewell lids will develop condensation overnight.
If you can reach it with a towel, dry it.

From what I have heard for you guys is they're just like Casitas, when all this started a couple years ago up that way, I went thru all the drama at that lake and the staff and ranger were more than helpful with getting my boat up that way approved, for chastity lock, make sure all is clean and dry, and to make sure after all is clean and dry find a good hill out that way before you hit the lake for inspection and lower your engine and drain again on the hill and keep at least 3 big dry beach towels and and put in livewell to get every drop before hit the gate I do hopes this helps for the nice newer boats that hit that lake up and get rejected on tourney days......
