Hi Rick,
I have a 1989 Champion with a Merc. 115 6 cyl. The past few times I have been fishing, my motor has not stayed on after the first choking and starting. It starts with the choke on and revs, but when I take it out of choke to idle, it dies or does not stay on. I removed the cover and saw alot of gas in the carb area. I know it's flooding because it will start after I let it sit for a while and then it runs great all day. I'm assuming it is a carburetor problem. Could it be the choke staying open, the gas, or need a carb cleaning? Is this a problem that I could fix? Any answers or troubleshooting tips are REALLY appreciated.
As a compliment, this boat was bought by my neighbor years ago from Anglers Marine and he sold it to me because he moved to Idaho. I love my boat and it runs great and handles great, just needs some TLC now. Thanks Rick.
