Trolling Motor question

Post by Ralph »

The lower portion of the control box on my Minn Kota EdgeTM broke in four pieces this weekend. I have ordered the replacement part and am wondering if anyone has repaired this before. Will it be a hard task? The whole cable and directional mechanism is popped out of place. Not happy :( considering this weekend will be full moon.Any tips appreciated. Thanks

My wife says it broke down because I was using it too much! Hey Kelly,
I've been out a couple of times and have caught some four pounders, but nothing really big. Are you heading out anytime soon? By the way,You didn't end up keeping that sweet Minn Kota you had on the barge?

The fish didn't like that snow 3 weeks ago at all. I learned when they back away from a spawn they don't do it half hearted . They were classic staging last week but will be go'n off this weekend...rain or shine. Actually I would never own another power driven non cable controlled trolling motor again. In theory it was sound but even though it was a high end trolling motor it was made the cheapest way...As a machinist I can show you where the corners that were cut bit me in the  ...I had to send that unit back in twice (on top of what I could fix) but the trolling motor doc had it fixed and back on that 'Toon super fast. The Trolling Motor Doctor didn't design them he fixes them ....If it's technology you want to support fix it ...If not replace it...Lots of deals to be had on trolling motors...Just say'n... :D .

The trolling motor is all fixed and ready to go! Going out Sunday, curious what the water is going to look like.

Hey Ralph - How was the water at Casitas today? Did you go? how was the fishing?
I have not been since mid Feb as an 88 year old lady stepped on the wrong pedal and creamed my truck. Then the following week My 3 1/2 year old Grandaughter was mauled in the face by a 50lb pitbull. Things are sorta back to norm and the truck is back together now and ready for paint but that will wait because I'm going to Casitas next Saturday one way or another.

Hey Byron,
Went out Sunday and caught 4 bass and 1 trout. The water is slightly dingy in different parts of the lake. Near the marina, the water of course is dirty with debris from runoff floating around with visibility maybe 1-2 ft, but clear in other parts of the lake. The temp. was 57 to 60 in different parts also, cold. The fish bite was actually slow compared to recent weeks. We caught our fish first thing and then another bite turned on around 10 a.m. Caught a stocker trout from the kids fishing day on a crankbait  The lake is really nice right now with the tules and grass submerged. Those buoys by the dam are actually floating now, haven't seen that for a while. Perfect for pitching Senkos weightless wacky style.I'm hoping this week will bring some stability so I can play hooky. Knock' em out Byron!
