Looking to help the kids out.

Post by JeffJ »

I was asked by a friends brother to see what I could do for him. He is a PE teacher at the Isbell Jr. high School (6th thru 8th graders) in Santa Paula. He is trying to get an instructional fishing class going to get the kids into fishing instead of gangs and drugs. So he got the approval of the school but now he is need of gear. So that is why he contacted me. He asked me if I could contact some fisherman to see if they have any old rods and reels laying around. He is not looking for top of the line stuff, just some basic spinning and spin cast rods and reels to get them started. So if you have anything you would like to donate, you can contact me at:

jeffjue@tycoelectronics.com

(805) 625-1872 cell

Any help would be greatly appreciated and may help keep a kid off the street and get them into our GREAT SPORT! :D

Thank you for your time, Jeff Jue

Brad,

I think they just are looking for rods and reels to teach them how to cast and tie knots. But I will ask, thanks anyway.

Jeff give me a call at (562)394-7361 My son Adam and I used to be part of the old Fishing in the City program when the DFG had it. I maybe able to give you some contacts and possible organizations that might help with the rods and reels.

Markey's Lures will throw in a couple dozen original Bushmasters if they need them. Just say the word.

You need to get in touch with Shimano. Try Mark Mills there and tell him you are friends with me and I am sure he can put you in the right direction. I know they have someone there that takes care of what you are asking.

Maybe try the Federation folks. They might have some contacts and maybe something can be done with casting kids as well. I also suggest trying Berkley (Pure Fishing).

I have tackle i can donate as well only thing is, can anyone pick it up from my storage in Lake Forest or meet me at MV lake? I dont have any time to box it up or ship it or drive it. I have about 10-15 extra rods, hardly Gloomis or anything. Im low on reels but i have a few on hand i can spare.

Hey Ray.. Will knowing you get me some Free Shimano reels too?

By the way... good event for no pre-fishing, sorry I was of little help. From what I hear the bite was completely different anyway!

As for the tackle and gear stuff... I am working on some stuff.. I will PM you with what I can do.. Should be something decent between Quantum USACproshop and my garage I should be able to put some stuff together!
