Spinning rod Superline
Interested in putting some superline on my spinning real. Looking to put 10-15# test on. I hate the flouro leader in the guides. Will be using it for small tex rigs and senko action. Fish the Delta and Cl alot. Any less bites come with stuff? Brand? Experiences? No agendas please.
Re: Spinning rod Superline
Braid is awesome for spinning reels:
Casting distance improved
sensitivity improved
no line twist = 1 year lifespan.
prolonged life means you dont have to change line all the time= saved money
fewer backlashes
Negatives:
the line is so limp it can hang up on guides or loop on guides.
severe backlashes (usually baitcasters) rare but possible. Generally if you pull on a knot or backlash the knot will untie, but sometimes not so much.
More visable( pro/con) if you dont use a leader you have a visable line. not a big deal with reaction baits or surface baits. Its a plus with wacky rigged senko so you can line watch. But it might be a negative with jigs and drop shot.
Upside: use a leader get the best of all worlds. you can learn to tie a double uni or an albright or even use some the really small swivels by spro...either way they work consistently.

I have used numerous brands on the river. Right now my preference is the 832. Strong and limp. Btw the diameter is so narrow I prefer the 20# for me no need to for lighter. Good luck.

Glad to see this topic as I was thinking of posting a similar question. On this note, I've read somewhere that if you spool braid on a spinning reel you need to start out by spooling a few yards of mono backer and then finish out with the braid. Is there any truth to that or is it OK to just spool the whole way with braid?

You should always use a mono backing for both spinning and casting reels. Braid is slick and may spin on your spool otherwise. Also, a cheap mono will save you a lot of expensive braid when filling a spool. After about a year ( or whenever braid looks bad ) simply take it off the reel, turn it around and you have new braid again. There is no memory in braid so you and respool with no issues.

Has anyone used Invisibraid? Really trying to avoid the floro leader aspect while not having a "rope" bait.

Berkley nanofil is downright awesome. made for spinning reels. i use 12lb test which has the diameter of roughly 5lb flourocarbon. casts like a dream. super thin and invisible in the water. no stretch which makes it have incredible sensitivity. only downfall is it is super slick so you have to tie double palomar knots to keep your baits from slipping off. Its so thin u can use it for dropshotting without a leader.

what do you mean you hate the floro leader going through your gides??? There are knots out there are more compact than others out there. it will reduce that clanking feel when you cast and retreive. here is one video

This is a very easy and smaller knot. It's super strong to but if it is tied incorrectly it will break instantly, but if tied correctly it is super strong.
I also would suggest you give sunline super natural a shot. It reasonably price. 10 dollars for 330 yards.

i have bought 4 bulk spools after trying it out and I find it to be a great performing line. very little memory and yet sensitive. I have tried 16lb, 20lb, 8lb and 6lb and all are great.
