Basics...Clear water with blue bird sky throw white. If the water is stained or youre fisin in low light conditions try black. Bobby's Perfect or the Spro Bronzeye are my preferences. Good Luck!!

I've tried them all, and my favorite by far is the River2Sea BullyWa 65. The strike-to-hookup ratio is amazing, and I find the body to be very soft but durable. Like any of them, they need to be "squeezed" on occasion, but the frequency can be reduced by keeping the rubber bead pushed up the hook shank. IMHO, the best hollow-bodied frog on the market.

Great advice there... I think the smaller frogs work better down South myself.

Also, as Scott said, you may want to try the Bird out, as it will definitely be something they haven't seen yet. Just don't over-work it! Subtle is the key with that tool... it is a bit like a Senko in that it really works itself.

Do a search for videos by Bobby Barrack. You will learn what color and when from the frog king him self. I remember seeing some videos and seminars he did on this site on the video pages.

This is a link to his most recents one on YouTube.

I've been playing with the Kopper's Live Target frogs this year. I've had a good hook up ratio & they seem to be holding up.

This seemed to be the "Year of the Frog" at ICAST this year. It was amazing how many companies launched new frog baits. Time will tell which frogs pass the tests of our western anglers for hook-up ratio, durability, versatility, fish-ability, and catch-ability.

The competition in the "frog space" is clearly getting fierce! Which frogs will rise to the top?? And which frogs will sink? I guess the cash registers will be the ultimate judge of which frogs reign supreme.

The Spro popper frog does double duty, and gets bit.
Because it has a popper mouth, it will pop and spit if you want, it walks the dog fine, and it's great for pulling over med. thin grass, with holes. It moves a lot of water on a subtle retrieve, so it gives the fish time to zero in on it.
Of course, that didn't seem to help the frog fish that jumped over my frog yesterday, coming completely out of the water and never touching the bait. It looked like a porpoise. Fun!!

SoCal deep structure lakes the best frog is a Plunker, Splash-It or sammy. If you insist on a frog then the River2Sea #45 in white; looks like a shad in the bushes or dying in open water.
