We have lost Ron Crews from Cal Custom Marine

Post by kb »

I received a message this morning from Phil Mitsuada that we have lost our friend Ron Crews from California Custom Marine in Redding, CA. Ron has been fighting some health issues over the past few years and has been absent from the fishing circles but his hard work and love of this sport has been present at each and every tournament.

Ron was a great friend and partner of many of us and there are some great stories we can all tell about times with Ron. I for one will never forget the smile from under the cowboy hat, the fact that he thought I could make it rain in Redding even in July and that nod and grin when he knew Gary D and I were messing with him and he couldn't do a thing about it but he wanted us to know he knew........

Hope you are shooting a big buck with Susie!!!!! We will miss you Cruiser!

That sucks. Ron was a great guy who gave so much to the sport. I remember always seeing him in his cowboy hat drivig the Cal Custom van. If you fished a WON Pro Am or even the WON TOC Ron was always there!

He took care of me when I broke down at Shasta years ago, treated me like family even though we never met before.

Very sorry to hear this as Ron was a well liked, soft spoken guy who was always there for the bass fishing community. He will be missed around the Shasta trails. Thoughts go out to his family.

For those folks who have never had the pleasure to know Ron Crews I would like to try and share some insite about the man. One thing that has to be said about Ron was, he had a strong work ethic.
He has done more for tournament anglers and more for bass anglers in California than can be told. He was the kind of guy that if you broke down at a tournament would do the work him self to get you up and running.
He was some one I respected in the business world and he knew how to take care of his customers.
Guys like Ron Crews come around every once in a while and the western fishing world is better off because of Ron.
Go with God Ron, may your hunts filled with Boone and Crocket Bucks!

Sorry to hear of the passing of Ron Crews. He was a quiet giant that worked tirelessly on behalf of bass anglers from all over. A great guy and a kind man.

Ron started as my boat dealer and quickly became my friend and hunting buddy. Ron helped everyone, with every brand of boat but Ron bled Ranger Boats. He worked 14-16 hour days if he wasn't hunting bucks. Everyone loved Ron Crews, he was that kind of man. He will be missed by many. Friday will be a sad day for many of us, but Ron would want us talking Buck hunting and nothing more. I promise there will be lots of Buck stories with this crowd...I can see Ron smiling already.
