Insider Trading

Post by Grumpy »

This subject is a real sore spot for me, these last two bubbles in the stock market have wiped out most of my retirement and much of it will not come back. I have myself to blame for not starting my nest egg until later in my working life and then trying to make up for it being too aggressive in the market, I lost. One thing I do know from my trading is if you have inside information it would be a no brainer and childs play to make money in the stock market, if you have non public information it becomes almost a no risk trade if done right. What I didn't know is members of Congress can legally trade in the market with non public information, what the hell?

Did anyone know this? They have actually exempted themselves from insider trading laws, allowing them to personally enrich themselves with knowledge the public cannot access. They put us in jail for doing the same thing.

Yes, I did know it! They also exempt themselves from other laws (like Obamacare) that you and I are subject too. There are 545 of them and they are the ones that can vote to correct it but they will not!

Six things we need to correct it:

1. Don’t forget and keep the issue in front!
2. Put each one in jail that has done it – Read the Book “Throw Them Out”.
3. Have each Senator and Representative work for the Governor of their State , not the party!
4. Set the amount of money a candidate can use on their campaign!
5. Set their worth before going to Congress and on each election check their worth and If they can’t justify the gain – they go to jail.
6. Don’t vote for a candidate that does not pelage to end this!

i can't imagine taking you're hard earned monies and basically risking it in something so unstable, tainted and hard to predict. seems like the true definition of greed. invest in yourself your family and local business or just go to Vegas and put it all on seven...

Swank-don't forget that us older people were brought up when the government actually regulated Wall Street. We were taught to trus tthe institution as well as corporations. In the corporate world I was an executive and our BOD was responsible for limiting and controlling executive compensation and protecting the shareholders. That all went south in the last decade and fraud ran rampant. I wouldn't invest a dollar in the market today. All of mine was cashed out and put into our business.
