8'6" LDC XXH Rod , Cardiff 400, 30 lb P-line (PF) 10" 3:16 hard baits
8' LDC XXH rod , Cardiff 400, 25 lb (PF) 8" 3:16 hard baits
8' LDC XH rod , Calcutta B 400, 25 lb (PF) 8" Hudd ROF 12
8' Dobyns 806ML H/fast (1st gen), Curado 300 E, 25 lb (PF) 8" 3:16 hard baits and smaller
7'11" Okuma XH, Curado 300 DSV, 25 lb (PF) Hudd ROF 16
I try to keep it simple (BIG)
This is what I always seem to have but some baits change but would still be some kind of 3:16 lure, hard or soft.
I'm not much of a tourney guy though if that matters.
Have fun!

Re: Basic go to setups???
#1: Drop Shot w/ 4-5 inch finesse worm
#2: Senko Texas Rigged
That's it. I'm not a good bass fisherman and I usually catch stuff with these so I stick with them. I have tons of lures but just don't know how to use them and when/where. Newbie....

Re: Basic go to setups???
1. T-rig - for worms, Brush Hogs, etc.
2. Weightless/EWG hook - Senkos, Flukes
3. Crankbait rod, with a fast-lock snap tied on. With this I can quickly change to different types/weights/colors/dive ranges, and from cranking to topwater to ripping. Usually start out with a SpeedTrap and go from there.
4. Dropshot
5. Shaky Head

If you want the 5 never fail baits to choose from.. drift my boat that morning and look at what is on my deck. Then.....
Go tie on 5 different things.

Re: Basic go to setups???
What reels on your setups guys. Just read over on the Texas Fishing Forum a lot of guys are switching to all Lew's 'Tournament Pro', for any reels under $200 (avg. about $179 online), and many over that too (replacing Steez with them even). Hadn't heard of them but Tackle Tour had a heck of a write up for the Tournament Pro I just read, rated 8.58 for the price range and voted 'best value award' for reels under $200 7 months ago.

All I need to get into the money would be the four I usually get along with a 20# kicker.

Re: Basic go to setups???
Michael, I recently added two of these reels to my setups. I like the profile of the reel and they are very smooth. I just loaded them with braid and will be trying them for the first time on my next trip out. They are a great price point and seem well made. We'll see!
