So, how do you make your own Hudd 68 Special? I dont feel it'd be just as plain and simple as glueing the 8" tail on the 6"...or is it?!

The 68 Hud is available from Huddleston. It started out a few years ago as a custom 6" with the 8" tail.

If you want to make your own yes it is that easy. I did it for a friend and worked out great. I actually put the 6 tail on the 8 just fooling around. One thing that i will tell you is not to cut it straigh, cut it at an angle so the glue line is much longer. I used mend it to reatach it back on. Hope this helps.

tom, they were a limited run, and you can't get them anymore from ken. in fact his site does not even have them listed.. and most of his baits are not in stock... they were going for $19.95 when they were first ran....and now there going for like $35 ea... some of the on line stores have the 6" weedless and regular 6" and 8" hudds, but i dont think you will find any 68 specials anywhere, except private sellers.... if you know where to get a couple let me know...

LV...actually Ken has had multiple releases of his 68 Specials...at least three I can think of. I can't imagine as fast as they sell he isn't putting together another batch as we speak. The best way to get in on the next release is to go to the Huddleston site and sign up. They will send you advanced notice five or six days prior.

It lined up well the 8 had maybe 1/8 more plastic height wise which is easily trimmed with a set of scissors. I cut it at the narrowest part before the curve up the tail. The cut was about an inch wide. Just make sure to cut them at a mirror image so the colors line up. If I do another one I will post a video.
