50/200 vs. 83/200 ducer ?

The 200 khz has a narrow cone angle, the 83 khz is a little wider and the 50 khz is wider yet. The wider the cone angle the better penetration in dense, deep water. If you are fishing salt water and 100 feet or deeper then choose the 50 khz. In fresh water the 200 khz is the best all round choice but in a situation like I had at Shasta a couple years ago I found fish in 60 to 70 feet of water. They didn't show up too well in 200 khz and I couldn't see my drop shot beyond 40 feet or so. When I switched to 83 khz not only did the fish show up better but I could track my drop shot and the worm all the way down, stop it right in front of the fish and watch them bite.
The power cords and all connections are the same with all HDS units. Cables, cords and all connections on Gen 1 and Gen 2 HDS are both the same.

The transducer is the same from an LCX to an HDS unit.
As for the power cord, I would remove the three wire power cord that came with the LCX and replace it with the two wire power cord that comes with the HDS. To power the NMEA 2000 network you will need a power node with the HDS system.
