Need assistance! Tacoma Owners!

Guys,

Sorry to have to post this here.... But I thought by reaching out to the "Band of Brothers" we have in this industry, I might have a chance at resolving my current issue. I have had my fair share of bad luck this year with my 05' Toyota Tacoma. Blew the engine two weeks after paying it off, and had to install a rebuilt engine to get another 100K miles out of it. Now I can not get it smoged since I put an after market K&N filter system in it. I paid the registration months ago, and have been trying to get it resolved with no success. Big Brother decided to tow it from my front yard today, since it's such a nuisance. What a joke. Anyway... here are my options.... Buy a OEM filter system for $600+ - Find a pic a part - or find someone that has some truck and do a swap for the test. If anyone out there has any suggestions or possible solutions it would be greatly appreciated. Looking forward to the impound fee!

Is it the whole intake piping or just the filter? Is it an OEM design K&N filter?

It is the whole housing that I need. It just takes swapping the system out for the test and replacing it. Just got it back from the impound yard after $213.

There is 2 days left but i bet you can talk them into shutting it down early. Its in irvine as well you can pick it up tonight!! Id do this before borrowing because in 2 years you will have to do this again! Sucks bro!!

In that case, it's better to buy another stock intake if you plan on keeping the car.

Thanks guys...

My younger brother who is more mechanically inclined than I, found a buddy with an FJ that had the same system I required to get past smog for the moment. Installed it tonight, and hopefully it passes inspection tomorrow. At least I have some time to find a solution until the next smog check.

Everything ended up working out today after switching out my K&N with the stock Air Filter system from a Toyota FJ. Passed with flying colors and got my sticker today. What a hassle! Now if I can buy that one on E-Bay cheap, I will have a solution for next time!

You can buy a smog legal aftermarket intake system from summit racing, cheaper than a stock set up.
Remember you live in CA, always make sure any aftermarket part you buy for your car has a CARB sticker with it, and KEEP THE STICKER!
