AC Pro-Am descends on Shasta March 17-18th, 2012
The U.S. Anglers Choice Western Pro Am circuit will make its second stop of the season this March 17-18th at Lake Shasta for what should be a spotted bass shoot-out among the angling field.

With water levels about 50 feet below full pool, Shasta will be fishing as big as it has in several years. Warming spring weather should also be putting those feisty spotted bass on the bite as the spring spawn approaches.

“Expect to see some big fish caught on swimbaits as the females start to move up”, noted Tournament Director Bill Hutcheson. “I’d predict that it is going to take about 14-15lbs a day to come out of this one on top”.

“The beauty of Shasta is that whether the barometer is rising or falling, the fish always seem to be on the move and eating”. “It’s just a matter of changing up your techniques and presentations to match what they are after”.

The Anglers Choice Lake Shasta Pro-Am will be staged out of the Bridge Bay Marina acting as both the starting and weigh in location. Thursday evening and Friday evening check-in’s will be held at Phil’s Propellers with the Friday evening mandatory partner pairing meeting starting at 6:00 PM.

Angler’s Choice Pro-am events use a shared weight formula in which each day’s Pro and Am angler effectively fish as a team to catch their best five fish limit. The Pro and Am angler “Share” the total weight, which carries over to the next day of fishing. Pro and Am anglers are paired up with different partners for the second and any subsequent days of fishing.

Entry fee for the 2012 Lake Shasta Open is $500 for Pro anglers and $250 for Am anglers. Pro and Am anglers who sign up together are given a guaranteed entry status. All other entries will be taken on a first come, first serve basis and paired accordingly.

All Options at Angler’s Choice Pro-Am events are paid back 100% Options for the 2012 season will include a $50 Big Bass option that will pay out to the top two largest bass of each day. There is also a $50 Top 5 option that pays out to the top 5 Pro and top 10 Am anglers entered into this option pool at the end of the tournament.

Competitors may sign up for the U.S. Anglers Choice Pro-Am events by logging on to US Anglers Choice website and clicking the Pro-am events link home page. You may then click on the entry form, print a copy and mail it in with a check or credit card.
