Gen2 update

Post by Dynastyworms »

software release for HDS® Gen2 version 1.1
Lowrance has released an updated version of software for its new HDS Gen2 multifunction
displays. This new software version (HDS 1.1) provides the following
benefits:
1) StructureMap™ Enhancement – Enhancements include the ability to Clear Live History and to show/hide water column when operating in Live Mode.
2) Writing to Mapping Cards – Now, Gen2 users can save waypoints, routes, trails, USR data, structure logs and sonar logs directly to any mapping card.
3) Miscellaneous Fixes/Improvements

I installed the update last night.
I fished Eufaula today, and the unit restarted 9 times, 4 by itself and 5 times while I was changing pages.

This has never happened until today.

It will just shutdown and takes awhile to come back up.

I do not think the update is ready for prime time.

Anyone know how to remove update?

The update has gone through many beta testing procedures. I would say this is a coincidence and would recommend that you call Lowrance customer care on Monday at 800-324-1356

Customer care was zero help. I finally found a way to reload original software, problem solved. Lowrance said this could not be done.

Update is not ready.

I have not heard of any issues with the new update causing re-boots, in fact that is one of the things it was designed to prevent. This is the first and only problem myself or any of my peers have heard of so I would say the update is ready and good for the thousands that have already downloaded it and they're running it with zero problems.

Keep an eye on your unit and see if something new develops you may have something else going on.

Yeah, they definitely need to re-train the entire customer service. Info needs to be accurate and consistent. I called one time and the lady didn't answer any of my questions. She dodged each question with a question. "Um hello! I'm calling you for help!"
