Minn Kota question

Post by bassman1975 »

Purchased a new boat and had a minn kota fortrex 101 installed just like my last boat. And just like my last boat that damn momentary button on the left side clicks on20 percent of the time. At Havasu with wind at 25 I kept hitting that POS button to turn it on, hit a dock and major scratch in new boat and then it decided to kick on. Does anyone know of a quick fix for this? If I hit the button at just the right angle and the stars are aligned just right and I hop on the other foot it seems to work, but there has to be a better solution to this, especially if I have had two minn kotas with the same problem. Any help on this matter.

Thank You

The Fortrex does not have a micro switch. It has a magnet under the button. The magnet is like a small cylnder push it up in it's holder just a little bit. If it stays on then push it down.
The other problem it could be is a bad armature. Call me at 925-625-2441 and I can help you with it.
I am a certified Minn Kota warranty center.

I had a problem with mine sticking on and not shutting off. I narrowed it down to that magnetic switch. I bought a on/off switch at radio shack to double check that magnetic switch it was a bad switch. However you cant buy just the switch you have to get a new board that has the switch connected to it. So i searched the net and found a place that has the same exact switch for $5.60 so i ordered it total with shipping $15.70. To me its alot better than $150.00 should get it Wednesday i hope it works. Here is the place i found the switch. http://www.digikey.com/

The sad part about all this info is that the trolling motor is only 2 months old.

Bassman1975, your trolling motor should be under warranty :D :D . Look up for a local Minn Kota Service center in your area.

You are under warranty. Anglers Marine and Trolling Motor Doctor are both service centers who can repair your unit.
