Do you guys carry fuses on your boat incase you blow a fuse? Are Marine fuses different that fuses for cars? I was thining of buying a mulit-pack or somthing like that to keep on the boat just incase.

I blew a fuse a couple weeks ago and didn't have a spare on board -> costed me the Humminbird and the recirculation pump for the day -> learned my lesson and got me some spare fuses. Best is you take one out of your boat and take it with you so you can compare it in the store. Mine where wider than the usual ones but I found replacements for all of them at autozone (lowes had some too but they didn't carry the E rated fuses -> guess which one I blew 8) ).
Hope that helps.

always carry spares. never know when one will let go or get so corroded it wont work. get different sized amp rating to fit the correct amps for each item.

Okay... I just got out of the garage and I can't even find the fuse box. All I can see is a black box with a bunch of rubber nipples that look like switched or buttons. Everything is labeled on the black box from the livewell, light, batteries. If it is electronic it says it on the box. What is that all about? I have a 2006 triton.

There probably breakers, but I would still have inline fuses to the battery I think?

Spare fuses are a must.

Also, for protection, I spray mercury corrosion guard on all electrical contacts under the panel, fuses, the PCM (computer) nuts and bolts and everything under the cowling on a regular basis.

Ive never used any different fuses specific for marine applications.

spare fuses are a must...

however, fuses dont pop for no reason. they may signify a damaged pump or a short in your line. If the fuse pops right away again trouble shoot the circuit immediately.

also, make sure u replace the fuse with the equivalent sized one. If you are popping a 5A fuse and you drop a 10A in there.... instead of another fuse being popped, you may have a fire to deal with.

Lastly, fuse corrosion on the contacts is a major issue. It wont damage the fuse, but may produce a symptom like the fuse is broken.
