Boat transport help

Post by fishmore »

I'm buying a Ranger z520 from a guy who lives in Illinois. Anybody have any recommendations on how to get it out to northern California? I've recieved estimates from shipping company's around $2500 to $3500. I would like to drive out myself to get it but I can't be away from home that long right now. Do Pro's ever hire anyone to tow their boat for them? Any ideas are welcome. Thanks!

Haven't used them but check out www.uship.com. Might be worth a shot.

Like kraetzer said, check out uship.com where you create a listing for your boat and receive bids from prospective truckers who are on their way to CA. You'll find some great rates but make sure to read up on their ratings and ask lots of questions.

BTW $2500 may be too much for a 2200lb bass boat. Back in 2008, I was once quoted by bidders to deliver a 25' 5000+lb offshore boat from Florida for around $1800.

Good luck
James

+1. I hired a uship guy who is going to take my bote from Midway AR, to Mission Viejo, CA for $1100. Admittedly that is a really good deal for me, only thing that kept that price low was that the driver has a return load.

1 2 go transportation is what I am going to use to transport a Audi RS6 in Sacramento to NJ for around 900 bucks. Might not hurt to check if some of the car haulers can take a boat.

It was till the dealership said it needed 29 grand in work. Audi mechanic in NJ does all that work for around 7 grand so shipping it is the only option other than yard art.

Update; used Uship and found a company to transport the boat. They changed the pick up date twice and then cancelled the bid. So the seller has agreed to drive out and meet me half way. I leave in the morning for Wyoming.
