Aim Marine is awsome!

Post by Mattlures »

I brought my boat in Monday to have my live well fixed and to have them check out my reverse. For the last year I have not had reverse at all, I just used my trolling motor to back up. So Joe at Aim tells me my lower unit is all messed up and I need a new one. He tells me they cost around $1200.00 Well me being a tight wad told him to just put it back together and I will use it like I have been. I also asked him to keep an eye out for any used lower units that would work for my boat. OK so he calls me the next day and says they had a motor with a blown head that had the right lower unit. He said the labor charge would be $90 for it. I asked how much for the lower unit and he says I only have to pay for the labor. AIM RULES!!!! Now I can finally back off of the trailer!
Thank you Aim Marine, you have a customer for life.

I agree. AIM is excellent.

My partner and I went to fish El Cap the day before the last WON tournament. My boat wouldn't get on plane, so we had to put the boat back on the trailer without being able to fish.

I called Larry at AIM and told him the problem. They diagnosed it while I was on the water, told me to bring it in, and then helped me fix it in the parking lot (just a spun hub). We were back on the water in less than a couple hours.

On a separate note, when we got back on the water we saw a guy who was paddling back from the North End because his motor wasn't working. It was 1:30pm, and the wind was kicking up good. He would have been keeled over by the time he got back to the dock. Being a big believer in fishing karma, we gave him a tow.

30 minutes later, my partner hooks into a 4.5 lb spinnerbait fish.

So, we got to pre-fish, a guy got a tow from North End, and my partner got a nice fish, all because of AIM. 8)

The saved me bigtime too just over a year ago. I had my motor looked at by a different company and paid good money for a test to see why it was not running right, would not get up to speed. They said the motor was blown. I was bummed, but took it to Aim for a second opinion on a 'whim from above'.

Aim tested it and told me it was just a computer module had gone out on one side that ran half the motor!!! Thank God I went in for that second opinion, and thank God I took it to them. Purrs now.

ARE YOU TALKING ABOUT THE SAME AIM MARINE THAT TRIED TO SELL ME A "NEW" SKEETER? AFTER I GAVE THEM A DEPOSIT OVER THE PHONE, I GOT THERE TO CHECK OUT THE BOAT AND THE FIRST THING I NOTICED WAS THAT THERE WAS GAS IN THE TANK. WHAT HAPPENED TO "NEW"? , I ASKED. WELL SOME GUY HAD BOUGHT IT AND BRANG IT BACK WANTING A BIGGER BOAT, BUT ITS STILL UNDER WARRENTY, IT WAS ONLY OUT TWICE. AFTER FURTHER INSPECTION, THE BENCH SEAT WAS BROKEN AWAY FROM THE INSIDE FRAME, THE SCREWS HAD PULLED THROUGH. THE REAR HATCH DID NOT FIT FLUSH DO TO THE FACT THAT HINGES HAD COME LOOSE (ONLY OUT TWICE). AFTER WAITING A LONG TIME FOR A "NEW" BOAT I REALIZED THAT I WAS IN THE WRONG DEALERSHIP. I PROMPTLY ASKED FOR MY DEPOSIT BACK TO WHICH THEY AGREED AFTER APOLOGIZING AND TRYING TO FIT ME INTO ANOTHER "NEW" BOAT. NO THANKS, I SAID. AFTER CHECKING MY BANK ACCOUNT WAITING FOR THE DEPOSIT TO RETURN (1 WEEK LATER) I TOOK MY MONEY TO THE PLACE WHERE I SHOULD HAVE GONE TO IN THE FIRST PLACE, ANGLERS MARINE. I WAS TREATED WITH RESPECT AND GIVEN A GREAT DEAL ON A "NEW" BOAT. THANKS AIM MARINE.

There are two sides to every story. I've heard the flip side of everything about every dealer out there. Some have ardent fans and some have folks that they couldn't please. As I said, this is the case with every dealership I've ever known. Jan, I'm surprised you'd take a shot in public about any dealer. You've obviously been aroudn the business long enough to know it only serves to burn bridges and in my short lifetime I've never found it espacially smart to break out the flame thrower on anyone and have wound up remorseful when I did so.

More specifically about this boat and purchaser is that, of course, there is a flip side to what was written here. I asked about this transaction that didn't happen and got some details from the dealership that I'll share here. As far as gas in the tank, there was not. To the point of the boat being purchased and returned, it was not. The boat was never purchased or run. The seat was not broken, they slide out of the backboard bracket so they can be replaced/repaired and such... this is what happened although they don't know why it was. The only thing that it was in fact used for was, when they found themselves in a pinch, the Aim guys briefly used it to transport bass back to San V that were in the bass tank at the annual jamboree. That didn't require the boat to be run or even launched. Just backed up to the launch ramp with fish in the livewell and the aerators running. There were no miles on the big motor and the trolling motor and electronics were never in use. I was told that the deal fell through when the poster of this message failed to get the financing to actually buy the boat.

It's good to hear that you landed yourself a boat and that Anglers Marine was able to take care of you. They're a top notch dealership, Rick and his crew are great people, and I'm sure they'll service your needs for years to come.

Southern California is fortunate to have some great guys ready and capable of handling your bass boat buying and service needs.

TONY, ILL BE THE FIRST TO LET YOU KNOW THAT ALLTHAT WAS SAID BY YOUR ADVERTISER AT AIM IS ALL TOTAL LIES. JUST ASK THE TOURNAMENT DIRECTOR OF ONE OF THE CIRCUTS WHO SENT ME DOWN THERE AND WAS DISAPPOINTED WHEN I DID NOT MAKE THE PURCHASE( I WONT USE HIS NAME DO TO THE FACT THAT I RESPECT HIS ANONYMITY). HE KNOWS THE WHOLE STORY. ASK MY WIFE, SHE WAS THERE. SHE SAW THE TANK HALF FULL OF GAS. AS FOR YOU MAKING PUBLIC THE UNTRUE FACT THAT THEY SAY I HAD TROUBLE FINANCING (I HAVE A 660 FICO,MY WIFE A 785) I FIND DISTURBING. WHY DID ANGLERS MARINE HAVE NO TROUBLE FINANCING ME? MY PERSONAL AFFAIRS SHOULD REMAIN PRIVATE, EVEN IF YOU DISAGREE WITH MY POSTING WHICH OBVIOUSLY YOU DO. IS THIS SOMEWAY OF TRYING TO DISCREDIT MY POSTING BY MAKING ME LOOK LIKE A DISREPUTABLE PERSON? HOW ABOUT I POST THE APPROVED PURCHASE ORDER? THANKS BUT NO THANKS. WHEN YOU NEEDED HELP STARTING UP YOUR RADIO PAGES I WAS THERE FOR YOU AND THIS IS WHAT I GET IN RETURN. IF THIS IS A PUBLIC FORUM I SHOULD HAVE THE RIGHT TO HAVE A DIFFERENCE OF OPINION. APPARENTLY NOT. ASK YOURSELF HOW MUCH FREE ADVERTISING YOU GOT FROM BASSWEEKLY RADIO. A TON IN A MAJOR LOS ANGELES RADIO MARKET,NOT SOME LOW VOLTAGE INTERNET BROADCAST THAT NOBODY CARES ABOUT. NOW THAT I HAVE LOST TOTAL RESPECT FOR YOU AND YOUR WEB SITE, CONSIDER THIS MY LAST POSTING. BY THE WAY, IF I EVER MEET UP WITH YOU IN PERSON, ILL SHARE WHAT I THINK OF YOU TO YOUR FACE.

You know what they say is true that it takes a lifetime to build a customers trust and a minute to lose it! That being said, you also have to look at your part. Ive had problems with dealers in the past but in all honesty taking a look at myself i had a bad attitude and my expectations were too high. I love my Triton and im going to get my 20ft' er soon again from AIM, But i would also give any dealer another chance if i were shopping for a different brand. Anyway, im just saying nobody's perfect its not the dealers desire to rip us off. We all share the same love for the sport, time for us all to kiss and make up myself included!!

I believe foolishone is telling the truth to the best of his knowledge, but nothing he mentions would have stopped me from getting that boat. Sounds like he just did not trust them from the get go. I'm sure they would have fixed a lid that was not put on right in the first place. Heck, my Skeeter is 20 years old and the lid is still perfect, so I doubt that being used once or twice caused it- sounds like initial poor workmanship, happens everywhere on everything, somewhere on a new boat or car, right?

And so someone took it out and tested it, does not ruin the darn thing or make it a 'USED' vehicle in most folks book, does it? Not for me. And would every salesman know every detail about every boat in stock? Heck no, they are not God, they have a lot of boats, and to insinuate they tried to deceive someone who could easily see it had gas in it does not make sense, an honest mistake most likely! Again, knowing it went out once or twice still made it a 'NEW' boat in most anyone's league, seems to me. I sold cars once, we test drove all of them, and none were considered 'used' by any stretch of the imagination. I could be wrong about new boats, but all you other guys that have bought one could set me straight if I'm off base on this. In that case, color me easy going I guess.

Everyone I met there has been very helpful and they have even repaired things for free that were on the fast/easy side to do. Sorry you had a 'bad experience'.

Hey Jan,

Shoot the messanger why don't ya, hahaha! I made it very clear in my post that what was said came from the sponsor dealer. I have no way of knowing who's got the full story right or if either story is correct. Had you come on here and flamed Anglers Marine or the Trolling Motor Dr., or the ABA or Won Bass or any my advertising sponsors I'd have spoken to them and posted on their behalf as well. It's the nature of who I am and I wouldn't change a thing about me to suit anyone.

I congratulated you on your boat purchase because I know there is no finer dealership in the country then Anglers Marine and you'll be served well by them.

I didn't call you out on the carpet but if you prefered anonymity in all of this you shouldn't have your name as a part of your email address.

As to your statements about Bass Weekly Radio, we hope to have a marvelous relationship with Jerry and the guys running the new Bass Weekly Radio once it's up and running and by the way, it'll be a webcast radio show. I'll pass on your strong endorsement of that concept to him as well, hahahahaha.

To summarize, I saw your flame post and gave the dealership an opportunity to respond, which they did through my post. I thought I made it clear that it was your story vs. their story and I'm not a judge or jury as to who's telling the truth or not.

I apologize if I offended you or anyone in this entire matter. It was not my intention. Now if you still want to get in my face I strongly encourage you to turn and walk the other way.

WOW.............Great way to start the week.........

Post by Pete Marino »

A he said she said shouting match.
There are two sides to every story as Tony said. My question to you FOOLISHONE, why did you post your personal affairs if you dont like Tony sharing them as well?? And also, whats wrong with Tony going to AIM and asking them their side of the story. They have a right to defend themselves against any type of allegations if they choose. Tony just relayed what was told to him. Dont hate the messenger...HATE THE MESSEGE!!
Going off on Tony like that was pretty harsh and basically threatening him like you did seemed even harsher given the fact that he was relaying what he was told. I wouldnt blame him for knocking out your fronts for that attack alone, but thats his decision.
As far as AIM Marine goes....they are top notch. They have come along way in a short time. Ai is a stand up guy, who is highly respected by many. He is extremely charitable, and approachable. I TRUELY believe that if there was a problem with a boat you purchased and you went to Ai...he would have made it right for you. There is no doubt in my mind!!
All that being said, the folks over at AIM arent gonna please everybody. Some people have preconceived notions about places and situations that keep them from being able to be pleased. And then theres the fact that AIM is not perfect...but who is??
Dont tell me Anglers Marine has never had a customer they had a problem with or couldnt please. That is NOT a knock on Anglers Marine, its a fact of life. No company or person is perfect...PERIOD. Their goal at Anglers and AIM is to please as many as they can. Unfortunately as is the case in all types of business someone will always have a complaint no matter how many people have been pleased.
Yes I am a part of Team Skeeter and AIM Marine but that doesnt have anything to do with my opinion. My opinion is based on first hand dealings with AI and AIM, also from opinions I've heard from other people about them.
Just so you know, I have no problem with Anglers Marine either. I bought my first boat from Rick and still continue to do business there. When I got my Skeeter deal, Rick Grover personally shook my hand and congradulated me on it and told me he had no hard feelings for me doing what I thought was best in my life at the present time. He also said that he appreciated my business and said if I ever needed anything, the door at Anglers was always open to me.
I'm glad that Anglers was able to make you happy.
But like I said...atacking Tony was very harsh!!

TONY , THE BOTTOM LINE IS , IF I WASNT APPROVED TO PURCHASE THE BOAT, WHY IN THE HELL WOULD I DRIVE FROM WRIGHTWOOD TO SAN DIEGO? I DROVE DOWN TO PICK UP THE BOAT!!!!. I WENT DOWN FOR A DELIVERY. I REFUSED TO PICK UP THE SCOWL DUE TO THE FACT THAT THE BOAT WAS IN THE CONDITION THAT I EARLIER MENTIONED. AS FOR YOUR HA HA HA COMMENTS, YOU BETTER BE PREPARIED TO BACK IT UP AS SOON AS I SEE YOU IN PERSON.!!!!!!!!! ANYONE WHO KNOWS ME KNOWS IM NOT KIDDING AROUND. ITS EASY TO TALK #@&* FROM NORTHERN CALIFORNIA BUT YOU BETTER BE PREPARIED TO BACK IT UP. ANYBODY WHO KNOWS ME KNOWS THE FACT THAT I DONT BACK DOWN FROM ANYBODY. YOU ARE WRONG FOR POSTING THE %$@# ABOUT MY CREDIT FROM THOSE LIARS AT AIM MARINE AND IF YOU WANT ANY RESPECT (ESPECIALLY AFTER ONE VERY IMPORTANT TOURNAMENT DIRECTOR HAS CALLED YOU TO INFORM YOU THAT ALL I HAD MENTIONED IS TRUE) YOU BETTER AT THE LEAST APOLOGIZE FOR GOING OUT OF BOUNDS. I DONT GIVE A %$#@ WHERE ANYBODY BUYS A BOAT, BUT AT LEAST GIVE SOMEONE A CHANCE TO COUNTER IF THEY HAD A BAD EXPERIENCE WITHOUT HAVING TO PUT UP WITH THE %$#* HANDED OUT BY YOU TODAY. ITS CALLED FREEDOM OF SPEACH, AND IF THIS IS A "OPEN FORUM" YOU HAD BETTER LIVE UP TO YOUR OWN MORALS.

Hey Jan Prestella,

I did indeed get a phone call yesterday from your friend and he didn't back up what you said 100% at all. If you had even half a brain you'd stop dragging everyone into your petty little grievance and just be happy with the fact that you got a great boat from a great dealer. What an ***. Fact is I've asked again, on your behalf, if there was gas in the boat and I was told if there was gas in the boat it was because you were coming down to pick it up and they customarily put at least five gallons in the tank to test fire the engine for their customers. Does that make it a used boat? Surely not.

You talk a lot. Enough to make yourself look like some punk with a huge chip on his shoulder that's so irratated he's ready to take it out on someone. Me, I have a lot more to lose if I come down to SoCal and kick your butt, so stop openly challenging me on this forum. Makes you look like a guy that hasn't the ability to control his temper and apparently no composure.

I watched West Side Story the other night and you kind of come off sounding like a Jet or a Shark, which'll it be... guns or knives, hahaha.

Just relax, see ya later, Chris.

Wow, will this stuff ever end? I've wasted enough time with it. And by the way, I'm not much of a drinker and you won't find me hanging out at any bar or saloon so it's likely we won't be bumping into each other anytime soon. As far as $50 a month is concerned, you'll find I charge a bit more to advertisers then that, still very affordable, but not the giveaway you suggest.

I just started reading this post and WOW!!! You guys, what's going on here?.

STony, I believe that both parties are partly at fault and they will always have different stories, their pride is at stake and if you have kids you'll find this to be true. I don't think that foolishone drove all that way just to walk into a dealership that he didn't believe in then said "hey, I'm going to have a bad attitude about this whole thing so I can slam AIM in a public forum" that doesn't make sense. I would bet that foolishone didn't get all the information and/or he didn't want to hear the information. It sound like to me that one's definition of "new" is different than the others.

foolishone, Why oh why would you threaten someone in a public forum? STony is a good man and a decent human and even if you disagree with his actions I believe his original intent was to smooth things out. Your making him out to be some sort of bung hole....this is simply not the case. I'm sure if your friends were attacked by someone in a public setting YOU would have talked to your friends to find out the other side of the story. WHY?.......because its your friends and friends do this, its called fairness. You attacked STony's friends and he did what any decent human would have done. If it seems unfair because my message to you is longer than STony's its because it is. You are the aggressor in this thread, and you took someone's experience that they wanted to share and ruined it with your bad experience, what did Mattlures ever do to you?.....Is this fair??? You need to step back and take a breath and not do something really stupid, becasue the winner in a fight ALWAYS goes to jail and the looser will still get to go fishing that day. So.....who really wins?

I probably should have jumped into this thread earlier and tried to calm things down but I have been out of town.

Jan, first I would like to say sorry on behalf of everyone at Aim Marine. Regardless of the story you had a problem with Aim Marine and we didn't solved it. At this point I don't think there is anything I can do to make the situation better.

As far as your finances go you are right they shouldn't be discussed on a public forum and shouldn't even be discussed between Tony and an Aim Marine employee. I am sorry and I will look into who was doing that and try and solve it.

I am happy that you found a dealer that was able to serve you well and I hope you have good luck with your new boat. All of the guys at Anglers Marine that I have met seem like good guys and I have no hard feelings against any of them.

I want to thank everyone else for standing up for Aim Marine. I think that most of you realize that we do the best we can and always seem to have a happy group of customers.

P.S. Jan, if you would like to E-mail me I would be happy to hear your side of the story. Even if we can make you happy maybe we can learn something from it. Take care.
