WRL Delta Wine @ Russos this weekend

Post by Bill Hutcheson »

The U.S. Anglers Choice Western Rookie League Delta Wine Trail will be making its fifth stop of the season one Saturday, July 14th out of Russo’s Marina on the California Delta . With warming weather and the fish moving up on the beds, conditions are phenomenal and this should be reflected by some big weights hitting the scales.

The July 14th WRL Delta Wine event will be conducted by none other than USAC Director of Operations, Bill Hutcheson. As such, you can expect a smooth well run event that will be fun for all. Hutch will in town starting on Thursday evening for the DFG meetings in Sacramento and can be reached on his cell phone at (714) 393-5656.

Trophies will be awarded for first through third place teams and the big fish of the event will also receive a plaque. Any anglers who may have missed picking up their plaques at previous events will also be able to pick them up at this tournament.

Western Rookie League events are geared towards the beginning skill level angler. Your basic entry fee of $100 includes a big fish pool. Options, which are paid back 100% include a $10, $20, and $30 option. The depth these options pay down is a function of how many teams enter the option pools. Teams will be able to accrue points during the course of the season to qualify for the year end Team Championships event at Lake Oroville on October 6-7th, 2012. The 2011 WRL Championships held at Clear Lake awarded over $65,000 in cash and prizes to our participants.

You may sign up prior to the event by going on line at the US Anglers Choice website under the WRL tab, or you can call Sherry Harwood at the US Anglers Choice office at (800) 360-7112. Early sign ups will take place on Friday evening at Delta Outdoors which will stay open until 7pm. Sign ups the morning of the event will be done at the Russo’s Marina office on Bethel Island starting around 4:30 AM.
